If you’re anything like us, when you need a frozen treat in Disney World, you fast-walk (safety first, treats second) to your nearest Dole Whip location.
Fortunately, that isn’t a difficult task, as Disney World has tons of places that offer Dole Whip creations — Aloha Isle, Storybook Treats, Sunshine Tree Terrace, Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies, Refreshment Outpost, Tamu Tamu, Swirls on the Water…the list goes on and on. And, in celebration of Dole Whip Day (July 21st), Disney World is offering even more creative Dole Whip treats all around the resort. So today, we tried one at Disney’s Old Key West Resort…but it’s only for adults!
Let’s head over to Disney’s Old Key West Resort to try the new Dole Whip Key Lime Martini at Good’s Foods to Go. This limited-time item has Dole Whip lime served with Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, garnished with a lime for $14.
This treat was super refreshing! It had a nice tart flavor from the lime but it wasn’t sour. We also couldn’t taste the rum at all, which could be a good or a bad thing, depending on what you’re looking for in a dessert!
The only flavor we tasted in this martini was the Dole Whip lime. We were hoping for some coconut from the rum, but we couldn’t really taste any. So, this was really a one note dessert when it came to flavor.
This also isn’t really a drink, even though it’s called a martini. It’s basically just Dole Whip with rum drizzled on top, which is what you can find at some other spots around Disney World, like Tamu Tamu. So, you’re probably gonna need a spoon with this one!
So, if you’re looking for an alcoholic drink where you can taste the alcohol and you’re getting your moneys worth, we wouldn’t say to grab this treat. It is $14 for not a lot of alcohol, which is what you’re really paying for with that price tag. But, do note that this was just our experience, and whoever is making your martini could end up having different proportions when it comes to the Dole Whip and the rum!
But, if you want a fun drink that makes your Dole Whip look all pretty in a martini glass with just a little bit of rum, go for it! We definitely enjoyed this as a way to cool off.
So, if that sounds good to you, head over to Old Key West ASAP, as this treat will only be available through July 24th! And, this item is also available over at Olivia’s Cafe at Old Key West.
AND you can even do a Dole Whip crawl! The crawl includes stops at Swirls on the Water in Disney Springs, Good’s Foods to Go at Old Key West, Pineapple Lanai at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and Contempo Cafe at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
