If you’ve ever been to Disney World, you know that there are certain limits, rules, and restrictions in place.
For example, adults generally aren’t allowed to wear full costumes in the Disney World theme parks except for during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and certain other specified events, and certain items like selfie sticks are banned altogether. When we were in Disney World recently, we learned that one rule that has been in place at Disney World shopping locations has been changed.
In 2021, Disney placed a 2-per-item limit on newly released Halloween merchandise. That was later extended and Disney implemented a two-item limit on essentially all merchandise items throughout the parks. This meant that guests weren’t able to buy more than two of the same item.
Cast Members told us at the time that the limit was in place due to supply issues. Supply issues are things Disney has experienced for quite some time now, and that’s something that doesn’t seem to be really going away immediately. We’ve seen supply issues impact MagicBands, snacks, and more.
But now, Disney World’s shopping rule is changing.
When we were in Magic Kingdom today, we noticed that these “two-per-item per guest” signs were missing. We then spoke with a Cast Member who confirmed for us that the two-item limit has been lifted.
A limit on shopping hasn’t gone away entirely though. For now, most purchases are limited to 10 per item. This is the limit that previously existed (before the more strict 2-per-item rule was put in place). But there are a few exceptions to this 10-per-item rule on some items like Loungefly bags.
We spoke to another Cast Member in Hollywood Studios who was not aware of the change. However, upon looking around the store we were in there, we saw that the 2-item limit signs had been removed. The Cast Member spoke to a leader who said that they had not heard of the change, but noted that the removal of the signs was, in their opinion, a clear indication of the change to a return to the 10-item limit (again, for most items).
It appears this change is still in the process of being fully rolled out, so Cast Members may have varying levels of knowledge about the situation. Be sure to keep that in mind.
Also, note that this rule is limited to purchases of 10 of the same item. You will still be able to purchase more than 10 items total at stores in Disney World, you just can’t buy more than 10 of a single item.
We’ll be keeping an eye on the situation for any changes and will be sure to provide any updates. If you’re looking for more merchandise news, Disney just dropped two new pairs of Minnie ears online AND two new Starbucks cups, too.

Melanie says
Shoot. I wish they WOULD limit me to 10 items total. It would save me a fortune.
Craig F says
There should be a 2 item limit per person on everything. Nobody needs 10 of anything, because all they are going to do is resell them for profit. Also, it greatly reduces availability for people who are actually shopping on property.
Joe Soule says
Gald to see Disney actively supporting re-sellers.
Lisa says
I hope that the package delivery to resorts returns soon. Also Disney should makes this process and shipping home easier for resort guests. Filling out forms takes too long. They have all my information already. Scan the band and go! 😁
Sharon says
Agree with Craig F. Make it harder for resellers to stock up.
Don says
They will sell them on internet sites for profit and it will reduce the number of people who just want an souvenir ….BUT Disney doesn’t care who buys this stuff, just buy it!
Tonia says
We were there this week and there were limit 2 signs up in every store including our hotel gift shop. (7/20-25/2022) especially for the 50tj anniversary and Star Wars merch.
Melanie Durham says
I totally agree @craig F. There should be a limit to 2 per item per person.
Melissa says
I really wish this wasn’t broadcasted! There is nothing I HATE more than merchandise re-sellers price gouging people for new items!! Ugh this make me so mad!!
