MagicBand+ has officially debuted in Disney World and we’re testing out everything the new features have to offer!
Between the Fab 50 Character Statues, Batuu Bounty Hunters, and more — MagicBand+ promises interaction like we’ve never seen with MagicBands before. We had the chance to test out some of the new features in person after we snagged one of the accidentally released bands, but now that MagicBand+ has officially debuted there’s even more to explore. So, it’s time to take a look at how MagicBand+ interacts with Enchantment — the Magic Kingdom fireworks show!
Disney fireworks shows are true spectacles that light up the night sky — so when it was announced that MagicBand+ would offer some new features and enhancements to the fireworks viewing experience, we were definitely intrigued. Color-changing LED lights and haptic feedback were some of the features Disney had shared, but now it was time to see it in action!
Many of our readers have had questions on the MagicBand+ interactions and just how practical they are for shows. I mean, they do simply happen on your wrist…and who is really looking at their wrist during a fireworks show?! So, we found out!
When Enchantment began, our MagicBand+ sadly had a hard time interacting with the show to the point that we thought it might be disconnected or something. But after asking those around us, we found out that their bands were doing the same things. We did experience this on debut night, so it could have just been an opening night glitch.
We did not have this much of an issue when watching Harmonious. Our bands lit up and vibrated more when watching that show, which even more so makes us think that this was a bit of a glitch.
Towards the end of Enchantment, our band finally began to interact more with the show. And just like we experienced when we wore the MagicBand+ at EPCOT’s Harmonious fireworks show, there were a few color patterns that went along with the music and show. The band will change colors along with different scenes in the show. It will also vibrate, not in rhythm with the show, but the vibrations will intensify as the music does.
So, is the MagicBand+ interaction with Disney’s Enchantment worth shelling out the dough for the new tech? Well, that’s really up to you, but personally, we wouldn’t buy the band just for the show and beacons of light interactions. It is a fun plus to the other things that the band does, but since you will more than likely be watching the show instead of your wrist, we just don’t think it’s a necessity for the show.

Again, we really think it’s fun and has a lot of potential, but we personally wouldn’t buy the band just for the show aspect. We do think that kiddos will love the lights but please remember that the band itself will have to be recharged.
We are still experimenting with and learning all the pros and cons of MagicBand+ and we know that many of you have questions. Please please reach out to us with those questions so we can get the answers you need by testing them out in the parks.

Flashing lights on a watchband compared to the awesome sight of Magic Kingdom’s fireworks? There’s no comparison for me. Unless it does something more spectacular, I think I’ll stick with my good Ol’ regular magic band.

I’m just afraid that now everyone with a MagicBand+ will have their arm up blocking the show. Maybe it’s not that big of a distraction though.
