It’s FINALLY happening, people!!!
Harmonious at EPCOT
MagicBand+ has officially dropped in Disney World and online (after a brief accidental mishap where the bands were placed on the shelves for sale) and we’ve scooped one up to see exactly what this new technology is all about. We had seen some previews and in-person interactions here and there, but now that the MagicBand+ has made its official debut, we’re testing all the new features. And now, it’s time to see some of those features in action because we’re sharing how MagicBand+ interacts with EPCOT’s fireworks show, Harmonious!
When Disney first announced that MagicBand+ would be coming to the parks, one of the features we were most excited to hear about was the interaction with fireworks shows. Disney promised color-changing lights and even haptic feedback, too. So when we got our hands on a MagicBand+ after the official release, we had to see if it would enhance our firework-viewing experience. Off to EPCOT we went to see how MagicBand+ interacted with Harmonious!

A lot of our readers have had questions on the interactions and just how practical they are. I mean, they do simply happen on your wrist. So, we found out!
The show began and our watch was immediately illuminated with those LED lights Disney was so excited about. The colors started changing along with the show, too! Depending on the scene, the color and vibration of the band would change. Now, the vibration itself didn’t seem to be in rhythm with the music. Instead, it would just get more intense when the music did.

Instead of the band being synced with the fireworks themselves, it appeared to be in time with the music and videos on the Harmonious barges. We were able to make out a few light patterns that appeared on the watch, such as rainbow and the shifting between a few primary colors that matched the scenes happening in the show.

Now, we did notice that they synchronization was slightly off during a few parts of the show, but it would quickly fix itself. We had quite a few more issues when watching Enchantment at Magic Kingdom, though.

While the MagicBand+ and Harmonious interaction is pretty cool, it still felt a little silly to hold our wrist up in front of us instead of watching the actual show… . This is a fun and unique feature, but again, you will more than likely be paying attention to the show instead of the little lights and vibrations on your wrist. We wouldn’t purchase MagicBand+ just for this feature but it is a fun and new addition and kiddos will probably really enjoy it.

Remember, that your MagicBand+ will cost you more than a standard MagicBand since all of the new techy features are included. And don’t forget that the band itself will need to be charged and recharged. We aren’t sure just how long the batteries last yet, but we will be sure to test it out and let you know.
