Do you dream about winning the Mega Millions jackpot (you know, the one that’s currently at $1.1 BILLION)? Do you have a dream Disney vacation trip you’d take if you won it?
Maybe you’d take that $100,000 trip on a private jet around the world to visit every Disney Park. Maybe you’d book a multi-week Disney World trip and stay in one of Disney’s most luxurious rooms. Maybe you’d just do all the expensive things at Disney World you can think of.
We asked you how you would change your Disney World trip if you won the Mega Millions jackpot — here’s what you said!
DFB Reader Andrew would be living it up: “Wouldn’t you just buy a vacation home at golden oak and a club 33 membership and spend your time at the exclusive clubs looking down on the commoners from the club’s balconies?”
In fact, many of you talked about moving to Golden Oak!
Martha, though, had a charitable answer: “I would reserve 20 rooms at one of the resorts and find 20 families with a disabled child(ren) and pay for their trip for 4 days and 3 nights. I would also give each family one thousand dollars for pocket money to spend.”
Victor would buy drinks for everyone: “I’d walk into Rose & Crown and shout, ‘A round for the house.'”
Denise said, “We would buy a home in Golden Oaks, and we would set up a trust fund to sponsor two families a year with an all-expenses paid trip to Disney World (that would never be able to go otherwise).”
Many of you just want to have longer vacations without worrying about being on a budget. Crystal said, “A week in each resort that I have ever wanted to stay in. Then move into a 3 bedroom savanna-view and spend every day at the parks. Try all the food without worrying about how much money is being spent. Buy souvenirs that I never would normally. Buy some DVC so family can come.”
Aimee agreed, “Longer time there! Rest day at the beginning, end, and in-between each park day and deluxe accommodations on property. Genie plus every day, fireworks dessert party, private tours…and I’d have plenty of $$ to vacation elsewhere too! Like Aulani, Disneyland Paris, cruise….and still have non-Disney vacations too!”
Julie said, “I’d bring people. Stay in a resort with really easy access to at least one park and do concierge-level. Stay longer with built-in rest/shopping days. Oh—and MVP tours. I’d also sprinkle some magic for some random guests and cast members.”
Jessica even mentioned the Star Wars hotel: “We’d stay much longer, eat better, do all the tours, Galactic Starcruiser, and finish it off with a Disney cruise afterward!”
Many would just have the ultimate family vacation. Kattie said, “I’d be able to have one. Period. We would celebrate with our first-ever family trip to Disney and Universal! Maybe a 2-week long Orlando trip.”
Audrey said something similar: “I would stay at my dream resort, Wilderness Lodge, for two weeks and take my whole family! Then go back at least three times a year!!”
Gail said, “Pay for my whole family to come and stay on property with the most amenities. Rent the park for a few hours or so for just us! Oh, and reservations at all of our favorite restaurants. Oh, and alone time with all the characters. Oh, and our own guide. Oh, maybe a night or two in Cinderella’s Castle. Maybe a private jet to get us there and back, if we decide to return home.”
Tammy would go one step further: “I would pay for Disney to be shut down and have just my family and friends there.”
Robert was on the same wavelength: “First a house in Golden Oaks, then rent out the entire park for friends and family. Full staff and all rides available.”
A lot of you would just buy a TON of souvenirs as part of your big Disney World plans. Rosie said, “My goodness! Grand Floridian suite, Minnie van service. First-class American Airlines, all the souvenirs I want, and extra luggage to fit them in. Top tier dining and annual passes.”

Funny how not a single response was to invest the money plus enjoy the other things. At the rate you all want to spend you will be broke. Guess not too many of you saw ‘the curse of the lottery’. Someone in NY who won two big jackpots, rented a cruise ship and took all his friends. He ended up filing for bankruptcy. If you don’t hire a financial consulting company, you will eventually go broke. Unless you live in Des Plaines, IL, it doesn’t matter as you didn’t win anyway – probably for the best.

Tink is absolutely right…nobody mentioned anything about investing. With a billion you never have to spend the principle. Put all in interest bearing accounts and live off the interest.
You’d still be able to travel with family and friends but in moderation.

How about giving some to charities that really need help right now.
