Disney news? Check. Disney food? Check. Disney shopping? Check. Disney TRASH CANS?! You bet.
We love bringing you news about all things Disney World — whether that means the latest park construction updates, a new snack review, or the latest merch drops. But when we say ALL, we really mean it — because we’re bringing you some exciting news about a trash can in EPCOT!
EPCOT is known for being home to some of the most innovative theme park technology and futuristic vibes, and although the park is being transformed in the biggest renovation since opening, much of the old EPCOT can still be found if you know where to look.
When the EPCOT transformation began, the former quick-service dining spot the Electric Umbrella was closed and ultimately turned into what is now Connections Cafe and Eatery. Many folks were said to see Electric Umbrella shut its doors as the dining location had been an EPCOT staple for 26 years and was home to several futuristic touches — including a talking trash can.
The talking trash can seemed to have been lost forever along with the rest of Electric Umbrella, until recently when it popped back up in EPCOT again! We spotted it over in the Odyssey building, looking completely unassuming just like a regular trash can. But when we got closer, it started talking and interacting with us. This is a fun surprise if you’re not expecting it, and can be especially fun for kiddos.

Head on over to the Odyssey building in EPCOT if you want to check it out for yourself (and look a little silly while trying to talk to a trash can)! Be sure to stay tuned to DFB for the latest news.
Are you heading to Disney World soon? We don’t blame you! The EPCOT Food & Wine Festival is underway, and later this year we can expect the return of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party!
Keep in mind that park pass reservations are still required in Disney World, and you can read more about that here.
