Sometimes disaster can strike…even in Disney World!
“The Most Magical Place on Earth” isn’t immune to mishaps and unfortunate incidents, including everything from hurricanes to technical glitches to broken animatronics on rides. We’ve had quite our share of unexpected problems in Disney World in the past, and today, visitors to EPCOT might find themselves in a bit of a pickle.
What’s going on? Well, today the park’s newest ride, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, has been closed for most of the morning. Guests who were able to snag boarding groups and Individual Lightning Lanes for the ride today haven’t had the best of luck, considering it has been closed for several hours.
A Cast Member informed us that the ride was closed this morning, then opened for a short time, then shut down again. In order to board this ride, you’ll either need to have purchased Individual Lightning Lane access or secured a boarding group this morning through the My Disney Experience app. There’s currently not a standby queue for the ride, so you’ll have to wait and show up when either it’s time for your Lightning Lane window to start or your boarding group number is called.
We thought it was save the galaxy time, but…turns out it’s not 😕 Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is down in EPCOT. pic.twitter.com/ytPbKwCMAC

Currently, no more boarding groups are being called, although that will likely change if the ride reopens today. Those with boarding groups that were already called but who weren’t able to experience the ride will be able to come back later, pending a reopening.
And speaking of ride closures, this isn’t the only problem going on in World Discovery. Test Track is also temporarily down, so you may want to head over to World Nature or World Showcase for the time being. Since two heavy-hitting rides are closed, you may want to expect higher-than-normal wait times at the other attractions around the park.
We’ll keep an eye on the situation with Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and keep you updated! It’s important to note that unexpected ride closures aren’t uncommon with some of Disney’s newer rides, due to a large number of moving parts and the advanced technology. We’ve seen these types of shutdowns fairly frequently with Rise of the Resistance in particular.
If you encounter a situation like this during your trip, just remain calm and speak to a nearby Cast Member if you have any questions. Make sure to be polite and patient — it’s likely that the ride will open back up later and you can probably try again!

We better get used to rides constantly breaking down. Remember that Disney makes a fortune from Genie + and lightening lane if the lines are long. What better way to increase the wait times then take a major attraction down for”repair”.

Gardians, who cares, it is nothing but a spin and puke dark ride, and so much for Test Track as it strives to be a spin and puke dark ride like so many others at the other amusement parks. Test track is no longer an attraction as it provides no meaningful educational experience like it used to. The old test track with a journey thru the factory onto the test track was much better that what is now being thrown out there to compete with the other dark rides. such a tragedy…imagineers have missed the target on the new Test Track.

Has everyone forgot that the Indiana Jones ride vehicles in Disneyland were built by the lowest bidder. They were “out of order” a lot . Remember the better parts and maintenance cost money.

I know someone who got caught in the confusion of those two rides being down. A very, very helpful CM (CJ?) gave them passes for today which they were able to use. They always love TT but they could not say enough great things about GotG and have made plans to go again.

No matter what happens in Walt Disney World it is still and always will be the most magical place on earth. People have to roll with issues, they have them and so do everyother place. They do their best and have a lot of people still being called back including students on (College programs) Smile and remember u r on vacation one you have saved for and want to enjoy with your family and others too.

Storms were bad Sunday night and caused issues so this doesn’t surprise me. Several things and businesses were having issues in the area near the parks Monday.

This is the normal operation for all of Disney’s new rides. Guardians, Rat, Rise, Smugglers, Runaway.
They all have the added $15.00 per person ride fee, and they are ALWAYS breaking down. Top that off with the fact that Disney will NOT REFUND your money of the ride is not operating. Their fault, your loss.
Disney is going down the tubes. Bob cares nothing about your satisfaction or the family experience that was once a Disney vacation. Now it’s just how much money can we squeeze out of these people and how little can we give them to get it.
