We had a VERY full month of news last month!
From the release of MagicBand+ to fun at the 2022 EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival, there have been some BIG Disney new items this past month. Now, we’re taking a look at the three most UNEXPECTED things that happened in Disney World in October!
1. There was a LOT of surprising food news!
First up, the all-new BoardWalk Deli surprised us with a ton of news in July. Mid-month, Disney announced that the brand new replacement to BoardWalk Bakery would debut this summer.
Since then, we’ve also seen a first look at the menu, the closure of BoardWalk Bakery, AND the appearance of hours on the Disney website for the new spot!

At Disney Springs, a VERY popular restaurant suddenly got a whole lot bigger. Guy Fieri’s Chicken Guy!, located in the same building as Planet Hollywood, saw a large expansion — and it opened all of a sudden!
Now, there’s a lot more indoor seating for you to snag when you’re chowing down on chicken tenders and so. many. sauces.

Over in Magic Kingdom, we were SHOCKED this month to see that the iconic Cheshire Cat Tail was unavailable at Cheshire Cafe in Fantasyland. This treat is a DFB favorite, so we weren’t too happy to see it missing.
Even more shocking? There was a Cheshire Cate PAW in its place. It’s very similar but with hazelnut filling. And our verdict was (drumroll, please…) we LOVED IT!

2. MagicBand+ dropped suddenly!
We also had some pretty big news when it comes to MagicBand+! The new iteration of the MagicBand adds interactive features like lights, haptic vibrations, and interactions with features in the park. We knew this product was coming, but it was a surprise WHEN.
Towards the end of the month, Disney suddenly announced a release date and the new bands dropped less than a week later!

3. Rides and attractions saw some big changes!
AND several rides and attractions saw updates too! Over in Tomorrowland, the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover saw changes to its narration.
And the Carousel of Progress animatronics received updated costumes in the final scene!

In Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Beauty and the Beast — Live on Stage saw the return of onstage dancers, adding much more spectacle to the show.
And Toy Story Land debuted its new merchandise spot, Jessie’s Trading Post!
