No matter how many times you go to Disney World, there’s almost always something new to see or do!
That’s why we make it our mission to go to Disney World almost every day so we can bring you the latest updates on merchandise, construction, food, and all sorts of other news from the parks. So buckle up, because today we’re heading to Disney’s Animal Kingdom to see what’s new!
Animal Kingdom Construction Updates
There is a green construction wall blocking off some of the greenery at the front of the park. Disney has not shared details about this project.
In refurbishment news, we got the news recently that Feathered Friends in Flight will be closing for a couple of weeks next month for a routine refurbishment.
The show will be unavailable from September 11th to September 24th and will reopen on the 25th.

Animal Kingdom Merchandise Updates
Discovery Trading Company
Are you a fan of Bambi? We certainly hope so because we saw a ton of new Bambi pins in celebration of the movie’s 80th anniversary which is August 21st! First up are these two pins — one with Bambi and a butterfly on his tail, and another with Bambi once he’s grown up a little bit with Thumper and Flower. Both of these pins are $19.99.
There are also these two — one with Bambi’s family and another that has the Bambi movie poster. These pins are both $17.99. Each of these pins is a limited release and all have the number “80” somewhere on them as they were released for the 80th anniversary of the movie.
But that’s not all we saw for pins! We also saw this The Nightmare Before Christmas Jack Skellington pin that says “Nightmare King.” This pin is $9.99 and we’ve also seen it at Magic Kingdom and at Disneyland Resort, as well.
And the final new pin we saw was this pin that has Raya and Tuk Tuk from Raya and The Last Dragon.
This pin is $9.99 and has also been seen in Magic Kingdom, as well.
Island Mercantile
Over at Island Mercantile, we spotted some Lightyear merchandise! First up is this Buzz Lightyear Backpack. We’ve seen this in Disneyland and now it’s made its way to Animal Kingdom. It’s a metallic silver color with orange and black detailing and says “Designed to the exact specifications of Buzz Lightyear.” You can grab it for $49.99.
We also saw this Darby Steel action figure, as well. Darby Steel is a character in the new Lightyear movie.
This action figure is $24.99 and has been seen in Magic Kingdom, too.

And that’s what’s new at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but what else is going on in Disney World? Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is returning to Magic Kingdom this Friday and Disney just announced that Max Goof will be there dressed up as Powerline! In celebration of the fall season, we’ve also started to see Halloween and autumnal decorations make their way to Magic Kingdom (so. many. PUMPKINS!).
We’ll be attending Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, so make sure to stay tuned to DFB for our thoughts!

Laurel Lane says
Why does anything need to close for refurbishment at this time? You guys had at least two years with COVID where these projects could have been accomplished. Why did you wait until the people could return? COVID did not stop Universal from working on attractions – why did it stop you?
