We have some FANTASTIC news for you!
Before we can get straight into the news, you’ll need a bit of background information. One of the most beloved cocktails in Disney World and Disneyland is the Fuzzy Tauntaun. This drink — found at Oga’s Cantina in Galaxy’s Edge — sadly went MISSING from Disneyland back in May this year, and then it disappeared from Disney World in June. However, now we’re happy to report that the drink is BACK — at least in one of the parks!
We discovered today that the Fuzzy Tauntaun is back in Disneyland! It’s located at Oga’s Cantina in Galaxy’s Edge. If you’re not familiar with it, this drink is made with Cîroc Peach Vodka, Bols Peach Schnapps, Simply® Orange with Tangerine, Pure Cane Sugar, and “Buzz Button Tingling” Foam. The drink is known and loved by many fans particularly because the Buzz Button foam makes your mouth go numb when drinking it!
How does the drink accomplish this? Well, there’s an ingredient mixed into the foam that is a natural painkiller. It comes from a Szechuan flower known as “Buzz Buttons.” The numbing sensation you’ll feel is very entertaining and unique, but it does wear off pretty quickly (so don’t worry about having a numb mouth while flying the Millennium Falcon!).
Previously, we saw the drink disappear from Disneyland, which a Cast Member told us was because there were “embargo” issues that affected their ability to get ingredients from other planets. We interpreted that as supply chain issues here on Earth.
In Disney World, a Cast Member told us that the flower used to create the numbing foam was going extinct, and Disney was trying to find a different way to achieve the same numbing effect without using that ingredient. However, we were told that Disney’s #1 goal was to keep the drink on the menu. Sadly, they weren’t able to achieve this goal and the drink soon disappeared in this park as well.
In mid-July, we heard from another Cast Member that, while the drink was still unavailable, they were hoping to get a shipment soon with all the necessary ingredients to bring back the Fuzzy Tauntaun. And now it looks like that shipment has arrived because Disneyland finally has brought the Fuzzy Tauntaun back!
We stopped by Oga’s Cantina to confirm, and sure enough, the Fuzzy Tauntaun is back in all of its glory. It’s still $17, and it still has that mouth-numbing effect. We have not seen the drink return to Disney World yet. It’s still on the menu there, but it has remained on the menu even when we confirmed a little while ago that it’s not actually available. We’ll be watching closely to see when it’s back on the East Coast!
While we watch for more updates, remember that you can also make your own Fuzzy Tauntaun at home! We created a recipe for this unique drink so that you can still try it out even if it’s not available in Disney World.
