Disney World has been BUSY this week with preparations for the Halloween season. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party officially kicked off on August 12th, and we had a blast bringing you all of the latest updates from the event. We also saw new Halloween merchandise, treats, decorations, and photo ops in Magic Kingdom. But what’s still MISSING from Disney World?
Amid all the spooky chaos, there are still some rides and attractions that are unavailable right now. Let’s take a look at everything that’s going to be CLOSED in Disney World next week.
Magic Kingdom
Walt Disney World Railroad
Although the Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for a LONG time and still doesn’t have a reopening date, we’ve seen some very promising signs that this attraction could reopen soon. For example, we saw some engine testing, and Cast Members were spotted training for the ride!
Construction on the upcoming TRON: Lightcycle Run roller coaster has interrupted the train tracks in Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom. The coaster doesn’t have an opening date either, but we’ll be on the lookout for more information about both attractions.
Tomorrowland Light & Power Co.
The Space Mountain gift shop, which is called Tomorrowland Light & Power Co., has also been shut down by TRON construction. People are being directed to exit Space Mountain a different way instead of leaving the ride through the gift shop.
The gift shop is currently scheduled to be closed through early October, which is as far as Disney’s refurbishments calendar shows right now.
Enchanted Tales with Belle
Enchanted Tales with Belle is an attraction where people can help Belle tell the story of Beauty and the Beast. This spot has been closed for a long time, and it also doesn’t have a reopening date.
If you want to see Belle in Magic Kingdom, you can usually spot her at the front of the Festival of Fantasy parade, which runs in Magic Kingdom once or twice each day. Check the times on the My Disney Experience app to find out when it’s running during your trip.
Pete’s Silly Sideshow
At Pete’s Silly Sideshow, you could previously meet characters like Minnie, Daisy, Donald, and Goofy. This spot — located in Storybook Circus — is still closed, and Disney hasn’t said exactly when it will reopen.
However, Disney has said that it will reopen sometime “in the coming months” — an announcement that was made a few months ago. So the Silly Sideshow could reopen any day now!
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique
We’re getting very close to the reopening of Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, which is a Disney princess and prince salon for kids ages 3 to 12. This spot will reopen on August 25th, and reservations are available NOW!
Recently, we’ve seen the Magic Kingdom location open for Cast Member previews, although guests are still not able to go inside. Note that Disney has not yet announced when the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique locations at Disney Springs or Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort will open.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
Disney’s Voyage of the Little Mermaid show is still closed in this park, and we don’t know yet when it will reopen. Disney has yet to provide an update on this attraction.
We’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we hear when or if this show will reopen.
Fantasmic!
We’re hoping to get an update on the Fantasmic! show soon. Disney has announced that it will return this year (in 2022), but they haven’t given us a specific opening date yet. It’s possible that we’ll get more news about this show during the D23 Expo in September.
Note that the show will look a little bit different once it returns — Disney said there will be new effects, stunts, and characters to see.
Will Fantasmic! return to Disney World soon? Here’s what we know.
EPCOT
Canada Far & Wide in CircleVision 360
The Canada Far & Wide movie attraction (located in the Canada pavilion of World Showcase) looks a little bit different right now. That’s because this theater is currently hosting the Appleseed Orchard food booth, which is part of the 2022 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival.
Instead of a movie, the theater is currently offering an apple crumble tart and a variety of apple-flavored drinks. We’re expecting the movie to return after November 19th (once the Food & Wine Festival is over).

Disney World Water Parks
Blizzard Beach
Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is still closed right now, and it has been for almost all of 2022. However, guests can still visit Typhoon Lagoon — Disney World’s other water park.
We recently wrote an update about what’s going on inside Blizzard Beach right now — you can read that here!

If you’re visiting Disney World next week, don’t forget to check out all the new spooky decorations, merchandise, and snacks in Magic Kingdom! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is almost completely sold out for August, but there are still plenty of available dates in September and October, so make sure you get your tickets soon.
Remember that Disney World is also celebrating its 50th Anniversary right now, which means new snacks around the parks, new nighttime fireworks shows, and special outfits for Mickey, Minnie, and the gang.
We’ll keep you updated with all the latest news, so stay tuned with DFB.

And yet, with all these closings, delays, referbishment projects and every other excuse under the sun, ticket prices are up, up, up to an almost 100% increase if you figure in the genie option, which was at one time FREE under the Fastpass banner. Why do we still jam the gates…
Steve says
The email subject line said “rides” and then the article bait and switch that to “attractions”….blizzard beach aside, only the railroad can be ridden, with maybe little mermaid show almost qualifying as a “ride”…. If we are talking closed attractions that haven’t reopened then you missed Stitch’s great escape or what ever will replace it.
Mark Faron says
The railroad, is on its way to just becoming a museum piece for Disney, it has been shut d for so long. With no opening date for the foreseeable future, do would be money ahead to do so.
AS for Fantasmic, our family has yet to be able to see this production on any visit . For one reason or another, it is always shut down. Better use of this area could be dreamed up or imagined.
Michael says
No Excuse for these attractions being shuttered for this length of time any longer.
Belial Bradley says
Right. Blizzard is down for its annua rehab it’s obvious if you drive by. My prediction is blizzard will open by November.

I can’t believe that you guys don’t know what you are talking about. First, Voyageof the Little Mermaid isn’t in Hollywood Studios and the picture you posted is from Disney’s California Adventure.
DFB Gigi says
Hi Jeremy. Voyage of the Little Mermaid is in Hollywood Studios and that is the photo we used. I think you’re confusing this stage show with the ride that’s in Magic Kingdom called Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid.

Jeremy got real quiet…..
