It’s completely normal for things to close in Disney World!
What do we mean? Well, Disney World rides, attractions, shows, and hotel rooms often close temporarily to get refurbished and fixed up. Sometimes it’s routine maintenance, sometimes it’s to fix something that’s broken, and sometimes it’s a complete refresh. (Like with many of the hotel room updates we’ve seen recently!) Now, a popular Disney World restaurant has closed for a short refurbishment.
As of August 15th, 2022, Kona Cafe at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has closed temporarily. The Disney World website states that they will be reopening the restaurant in fall 2022 with an “enhanced table service experience.”
But during this closure, guests will still be able to use the My Disney Experience app to order breakfast, lunch, and dinner from Kona Cafe To-Go, with pickup right next to Kona Island. We’ll be sure to keep an eye on construction over the next few months and share any updates that we find!
Stay tuned to DFB for more restaurant news from Disney World! BoardWalk Deli has just opened up at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and we visited on opening day to review both the breakfast and lunch menus, so make sure to check those out.

I sure hope it doesn’t come back with a generic look like so many other refurbishments have done. Theming seems to be giving way to bland.

Not too happy about this since we are staying at the Polynesian in a couple of weeks. Hope we can find a place to sit down and enjoy our meal. Never stayed there before so I don’t know the layout. Might have to eat breakfast at the parks. Flexibility is key in a Disney vacation!

Will ‘Ohana at the Polynesian be open and serving breakfast, lunch, dinner?
