The day has FINALLY arrived.
When EPCOT’s 2022 Food & Wine Festival began in July of 2022, most of the booths opened. But a select few have remained shuttered…until NOW. For weeks, we’ve awaited the return of The Noodle Exchange booth and now we’ve finally gotten the chance to try out the booth for ourselves! Is it something you’ve got to add to your must-visit list? Let’s find out together.
Menu
In 2021, The Noodle Exchange was a new addition to the festival.
This year it’s BACK with all returning items, although the booth itself got a new look!
There’s pho, udon, rice noodles, and some drinks to wash all of those noodles down. So what are you waiting for? Let’s EAT!
Eats
First on the menu is the Traditional Spicy Vietnamese Beef Pho with shaved beef, mushrooms, and Thai basil. This dish is Gluten/Wheat Friendly. This is a returning item from 2021.
This year, we thought the pho was pretty good, although it really wasn’t flavorful enough. The broth had some beefiness, but there wasn’t a lot else going on. The mushrooms were good, and the beef was thin-cut and cooked very well, but we just felt disappointed by the lack of spice and flavor. If you’ve had authentic pho, this might fall flat for you.
Though the dish has “spicy” in its name, it really wasn’t all that spicy at all. We would have enjoyed some sriracha sauce added in! Overall, if you’re looking for something basic and tasty, it’s a pretty good option. You can get it this year for $5.50.
Next, we have the Chinese Char Siu Pork Udon with mushrooms, bok choy, and soy pickled egg, another returning item. We thought this dish was very good! There was a very heavy presence of soy sauce both in the broth and on the egg. Our reported likes salty things, so they enjoyed it, but if you’re not a big fan of salty broths then this might not be for you.
The noodles were great, the pork melted in our mouths, and the egg was tasty as well! Try it yourself for $5.50.
Then it was time to check out the Thai Shrimp and Coconut-Curry Rice Noodles with shiitake mushrooms and Thai basil. This is another returning item and is Gluten/Wheat Friendly.
The broth in this dish was one of our favorites. It had just the right amount of heat, but that coconut cut through the spiciness with a good amount of sweetness. The shrimp was just a little bit overcooked, but it wasn’t bad. Although it wasn’t the most authentic curry noodles we’ve had, we still enjoyed them a lot!
Try it for $6.50 and then tell us your thoughts in the comments or via social media!
Finally, we end with another returning item — the Tofu Pho with mushrooms and Thai basil. This is a plant-based dish and is Gluten/Wheat Friendly. WOW is this dish spicy! The green peppers in it are pretty hot, but watch out for those red peppers — they’re VERY spicy.
The broth was flavorful and not too salty, but the tofu itself is completely flavorless. It didn’t absorb much of the broth, and it wasn’t seasoned either. However, the mushrooms were very tasty!
Be warned, this was the SPICIEST broth of the ones we got this year. Just be prepared for a real kick if you want to try it. These noodles were tasty and if you’re a tofu lover, these could be the perfect ones to get! You can get it for $5.50.
That’s it for the food. But we can’t forget about the drinks!
Drinks
The Noodle Exchange has 2 alcoholic drinks to try, neither of which are new. If you love green tea, don’t miss out on the Playalinda Brewing Company Yaupon Brothers Green Tea Pale Ale.
When we’ve had it in the past, the drink has been incredibly refreshing, the perfect thing to sip on as you walk around EPCOT while being baked by the Florida sun! You can get this drink for $5 (6oz) or $9 (12oz).
At this booth, you’ll also find an A to Z Riesling, which you can get for $5.
Overall
If you’re looking for some tasty noodles, broths that are full of flavor, and some more unique dishes at the Festival, this is a great booth to check out. Granted, warm noodles would probably be more enjoyable on a cooler Florida day (not in the middle of the heat) 😂 but these were still very tasty and the offerings are different when compared to some of the other marketplace offerings.
What do you think? Is the Noodle Exchange a must-try for you? Tell us in the comments! Remember that the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival is now in full swing with ALL booths finally open. The Festival will be available every day from now through November 19th, 2022.
