If you’re catching a flight soon, there’s a lot you’ll want to catch up on.
Flight delays, cancelations, staffing shortages — the “friendly skies” seem to be anything but, lately. But luckily, it’s not just bad news…if you’re flying through Orlando International Airport (MCO), you’ll have an easier time renting a car soon.
MCO took to Twitter to announce that onsite rental car companies are coming to Terminal C! Take a look:

This article is based on a tweet that’s misleading. Having arrived yesterday at Terminal C, when they say those companies have a presence at Terminal C, they are technically correct but it’s simply a sales desk. Signs direct travellers all the way to the “rental cars” in the parking garage area, but just before that are some very small desks for the rental car companies. Those desks are merely sales desks – no car allocation or cars are at Terminal C – just the ability to make a new reservation. After being told this, one needs to walk all the way back across the bridge to the main terminal, down two floors in an elevator, then wait for a coach to which seems to run every 30 mins or so (until it’s full) which then simply dumps you at the arrivals section of the old terminals after a lot of messing around, repeated tip requests from the driver etc. This easily adds 45-60 mins on to an arrival. I’d be avoiding terminal C if renting a car.
The replies to the tweet are mainly also making this point, and it’s surprising the airport hasn’t issued a correction. I’d suggest an update to this article to make the limitations outlined above clear.
Unrelated to the above, the layout at Terminal C is very strange in that luggage is collected prior to immigration. This means carrying all your checked bags through the snaking long (think 60 mins+ for non US citizens) tight line queueing system with only less than 1/4 of the booths open despite many flights arriving simultaneously. Some of the gates are also a long walk with lots of inclines (no moving walkways or escalators) – guests with limited mobility will struggle.
