This week, the Disney Princesses are getting the royal treatment around Disney World in honor of World Princess Week!
The royal celebration takes place from August 21st through August 27th featuring special merchandise, entertainment, announcements, and, our favorite…FOOD! That’s right, guests at Disney World and Disneyland can find tons of Princess-themed treats around the parks and resorts to join in on the festivities. You know we LOVE us a new snack (we are Disney Food Blog, after all!) so we’re heading out to taste the royal offerings for ourselves!
Our latest stop takes us to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort to snag the Moana Mini Cake, available at Kona Island Coffee Bar and Capt. Cook’s!
The Moana Mini Cake is one of the brand-new snacks that debuted in honor of this year’s World Princess Week. It’s made with vanilla cake, mango mousse, and a wave of glaçage, buttercream, fondant, and white chocolate décor. This is definitely an Instagramable treat, but does it deliver on taste as well? Let’s dig in and find out!
We really liked how light the cake was — the texture was very airy. The mango mousse had small white pearls in it, which added a nice, although surprising, crunch, as that’s not listed in the description. The wave glaçage on the outside tasted like marshmallow, which we liked. However, it does melt quickly!
There IS a heavy sugar flavor with this dessert, though, so this is perfect for people with a sweet tooth. We kinda’ wish there was more mango flavor with it to balance that sweetness out. But it’s worth trying out if you like cake and tropical flavors! It is very shareable, so we think the price is worth it for how much cake you get.
If the Moana Mini Cake sounds like a must-have dessert for you, be sure to swing by either Kona Island Coffee Bar or Capt. Cook’s this week to snag one for $7.29! We’ll be trying a bunch of the World Princess Week treats like the Aurora Fruit Tart, so stay tuned for more reviews. If you want a list of the special princess treats this week, check it out here!
We’ll continue to eat our way around the new Princess-themed snacks in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more reviews heading your way SOON!

Glaçage?! Vocabulary Word of the Week, but turns out it’s just French for “icing”. Kind of a disappointment actually…

The macadamia nut and pineapple Moana cupcake at Aulani still might be the best. Its the only time I’ve had an $8 cupcake and thought it was absolutely worth it. It’s huge and delicious and so well decorated and the frosting was a pleasant surprise and wasn’t that thick kind of fake tasting butter ream you get a lot. I have tons of pics and would love to write a guest review of it and the other special treats that are only found at Aulani, if possible!
