For Disney fans, there is already a TON of things to watch on Disney+.
We could spend DAYS re-watching our favorite classic Disney movies, getting caught up on the Marvel universe with both movies AND TV shows, and re-watching EVERYTHING Star Wars AND watching new Star Wars shows. However, Disney+ will be bringing even more original content to its service soon in the form of a classic story, King Kong!
According to Deadline, the classic story of King Kong is coming to Disney+ as a new live-action series. This would be the first series set in the King Kong universe, although there have been quite a few movies. The series is being written by Stephany Folsom (Paper Girls) and will be a serial drama returning to Skull Island in the modern age to meet a new version of Kong.
The series will take inspiration from the original Merian C. Cooper books, as well as from the new novels by Joe DeVito. It will explore Kong’s origin story, as well as explore the mysteries of Skull Island. Folsom, James Wan, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett for Atomic Monster, along with Dannie Festa and Marc Manus for world Builder Entertainment will executive produce.
If you’re looking for even more to watch on Disney+, here’s everything that’s landed on the service in August and everything you can expect in September. There’s also the premiere of the new Star Wars series, Andor, to look forward to in September.
Remember that an ad-supported version of Disney+ is coming up soon, and that subscription prices for ad-free service will be increasing on December 8th.
