We have one very important question for you: Canada or Mexico?
Of course, we’re talking about which World Showcase country you prefer to start out in at EPCOT! It’s a debate that many Disney fans have long had, but if you’re a fan of tequila and queso — the choice is clear. Speaking of tequila and queso, we recently headed to La Cava del Tequila in the Mexico Pavilion to check out a NEW margarita on their menu. Let’s find out how this one compares to the rest of the impressive La Cava margarita lineup!
A new margarita has officially landed on the menu at La Cava del Tequila in EPCOT! The Malumita was originally a limited-time drink intended to be around for ONE day only — the 13th Anniversary of the beloved tequila cave which took place on August 29th, 2022. But, it seemed to be so popular that it’s sticking around a bit longer!
The Malumita is made with Contraluz Mezcal Cristalino, Pineapple, Chile Poblano Liqueur, Lime, Italicus, and Tortilla Ash Salt for $25. Is it worth the steep price tag, though?
This might be our new favorite drink at La Cava del Tequila — we’re not kidding! There’s an incredible smokiness from the Mezcal, but it doesn’t overpower the Italicus liqueur (made from bergamot oranges). The ginger brings a nice sweetness and freshness to the cocktail as well.
The pineapple shines through without being the ONLY thing we can taste (which happens often with pineapple cocktails in Disney World) and it’s not overly sweet either. The tortilla salt rim is a fun new twist on the typical margarita garnish, and it definitely has a bit of a corn flavor to it. The dehydrated pineapple slice was a nice touch but didn’t add too much to the overall experience.
Of course, we had to get chips and queso while we were there too, and as always they were delicious.
The malumita is pretty expensive at $25, so if you’re not looking to spend that much on a drink we’d probably skip this one. It’s also probably not for those who like sweet drinks, as it’s primarily smoky from the Mezcal.
Overall, we thought this new margarita was perfectly balanced and refreshing and we would absolutely get it again — even if it does cost more than a quick-service meal. Head on over to La Cava del Tequila to get your hands on the latest cocktail creation, and be sure to stay tuned to DFB for the latest Disney food news and more!
