Do you feel that chill in the air? It’s officially Halloween at Disneyland!
We’ve seen decorations start to show up around the park (including the ICONIC giant Mickey pumpkin on Main Street, U.S.A.), and today, September 2nd, marks the official start of the Halloween season at Disneyland Resort. Let’s take a look at what we can expect from this year’s festivities.
For starters, Haunted Mansion Holiday has made its return to the Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland. This is a Nightmare Before Christmas overlay of the classic ride with characters from the movie as well as Christmas decorations all over the mansion. There is also a gingerbread house each year as part of the transformation. The theme changes each year, and Disney has finally revealed the theme of this year’s gingerbread house on TikTok. You can watch the TikTok below to see the theme for yourself!

Back in April, Disney shared a sneak peek of what Mickey and Minnie’s Halloween costumes will be in Disneyland, and now we’ve got a look at them in real life! Mickey is dressed up as a jack-o-lantern, and Minnie is dressed up as a witch, according to Disney, though she definitely looks like she’s dressed up as a cat to us.
This year, the crew decided to make their own costumes, and Disney even shared that guests will also be able to see Goofy as a haunted apple tree and Donald as candy corn. Daisy, Pluto, Clarabelle, and Chip and Dale got new costumes this year, as well.
These costumes will only be for this Halloween season, so this will be your only time to spot them! Also returning this year is the Halloween Screams projection show that you can catch from multiple locations around Disneyland. On weekdays, it’s just the projections, but you can catch the show with fireworks on weekends!
And Haunted Mansion isn’t the only ride to get an overlay! As in years past, this Halloween season, you’ll be able to experience Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree and Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Wee, as well as Guardians of the Galaxy — Monsters After Dark. You might even spot some of your favorite characters from Cars all dressed up for the season, too!
For all the Coco fans out there, you can head to Disney California Adventure to Plaza de Familia for “live entertainment, specialty foods, crafts and interactive experiences.” You’ll also be able to catch “A Musical Celebration of Coco,” which is a street show that is performed multiple times per day. These offerings are available until November 2nd.
There’s a lot going on at Disneyland this Halloween season with all of these exciting offerings, plus some limited time spooky snacks and treats, merchandise, and, of course, the return of Oogie Boogie Bash! We’ll be bringing you all the news this Halloween season, so make sure to stay tuned to DFB for the latest.
