Splash Mountain at both Disneyland and Disney World is getting a big makeover soon and turning into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure!
We’ve already seen some concept art for the ride, as well as more details about the characters, and we recently found out about and opening timeline. But, if you’re like us, we’re sure you want to know what it’s actually going to LOOK like, right? Well, good news — we just got a SNEAK PEEK at a model of the ride!
We’re at D23 Expo, where we got a full look at a mini model of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! Take a look:

Let’s take a closer look!
As you can see, there are a lot of similarities to Splash Mountain, but it’s a lot more lush! You can see a celebration sign on one of the buildings.
And, there’s a water tower that says “Tiana’s Foods.”
Check out those lights in the tunnel before the drop.
And, there are some friends down at the bottom of the hill!
There are also some things growing on the side of the ride — Tiana is growing the ingredients she needs for her NEW restaurant!
Check out that giant garden!
The queue is getting a makeover, too. check out the new entrance look!
There are more things growing in here as well!
And, that new logo is on the sign.
Check out what it will look like at night!
And, here’s another look at Tiana!
Here’s another rendering of the ride during the day.
This theme of growing spices and foods that we will see and experience throughout the attraction is going to bleed into other areas at Disneyland as well.
Today, Disney announced that a new restaurant — Tiana’s Palace — is coming to Disneyland (No word on Disney World yet). This restaurant will be located in New Orleans Square. But that’s not all, a new shop was announced as well!! This shop is called Eudora’s Place and will feature Tiana’s spices and sauces.

It’s very sad to seem them change a piece of my childhood

Typical Disney. “Let’s spend money redoing something everyone loved before and not bother with things that need repair or updating.”
Lynn says
If there has to be a change in an old classic, okay. I just hope that they don’t make the majority of the story line digital/screen like Ratatouille. What sets Disney apart is the animatronics over the years.
Anthony says
Not impressed. Love the story line of Splash Moutain and the music is iconic. Change for the sake of change, is not always better. The Great Movie Ride does that ring a bell. Add a new attraction. But not at the expense of an iconic attraction. What might be next CP.
Bob says
I love the new theme, and the outside looks great (honestly the old and new versions have a lot in common.) I really hope they manage to repurpose as many of the old animatronics as possible. Disney’s recent rides have leaned toward a lot of video screens, and the effect just isn’t the same.
To the people complaining about removing something yoy loved: I understand missing that nostalgia, but try to understand that the movie and characters the current ride is built around – no matter how innocent and gentle they may appear in the ride itself – are based upon harmful racial stereotypes. I can’t imagine what it must be like to be a young Black kid who goes on that ride and has a fun time, then goes home and googles “Song of the South.” It must be painful and infuriating.
Janet C says
Even people that are happy about the change must be disappointed the updated concept plan does not have the spectacular tree.
Nicole M Christensen says
Not impressed. It’s a bad sign when the most exciting thing they can highlights – apparently – is what Tiana is growing in a garden. Wow – cabbage! Are you serious? “Look at the things growing in there!” Uh, plants? This movie property could have been utilized in various ways throughout the park but repurposing Splash Mountain around it wasn’t it. New Orleans is not a mountain. It’s not known for mountains. If they were going to design a ride around New Orleans from scratch, would it have in any way have looked like this? I’m guessing no. So they’re forcing a concept onto an existing infrastructure where it doesn’t fit, and so we’re getting dramatic gardens of cabbage as a result. So unfortunate.
RickTR says
If they wanted to see how a ride through New Orleans should look, all they have to do is look at the beginning of the Disneyland Pirates of the Caribbean. It sets the mood perfectly, and there’s not a mountain in sight. Also, it’s sad to think of kids growing up never knowing the iconic Splash Mountain characters or hearing the iconic songs. As Nicole said above, we are losing all that for a garden of cabbage.

Is there a date for either the restaurant or revamped ride
