It’s been a BIG week for Disney announcements!
We got to hear about new and exciting details for upcoming projects on Disney+ Day, and we’re running from panel to panel to get the latest news on all things Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, and more. But now, we’re back in Disney World to check out all the latest construction updates — so let’s get to it!
Magic Kingdom
Walt Disney World Railroad
Construction is chuggin’ along over at the Walt Disney World Railroad, which has now been closed for over three years. We recently saw some scaffolding covered in green scrim near the Fantasyland Station.
Cast Members have been working on replacing the tracks in multiple areas around the park, and here you can see a close-up of that progress.
We can’t wait for construction to finally be completed on the Walt Disney World Railroad so that we can ride it around Magic Kingdom again! Stay tuned for updates.
TRON: Lightcycle Run
We got to see quite a bit of vehicle testing over at TRON: Lightcycle Run last week, which hopefully means that we’re getting closer and closer to an opening date!
This week, we saw more concrete shapes being poured on the ground and are looking forward to seeing what this area will look like when it all comes together!

EPCOT
Cool Wash
Last week, we reported that the infamous Disney World construction shrubs had popped up out in front of Cool Wash, but we weren’t sure what was going on.
But now, the Cool Wash sign has been removed! We’ll keep an eye out for more progress over here and will let you know if we have any more updates.
Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana
Look at this detail!!!!!!! We can finally see a close-up (kind of) of the progress over at Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana.
We can see some of the design elements featured in the concept art, and it looks like things are started to progress quickly!

Woody’s Roundup Rodeo BBQ
We haven’t seen much of an update at this future table service restaurant, but some of the concept art was recently removed from this green construction fence at Woody’s Roundup Rodeo BBQ entrance.
But, you can see a peek behind that green scrim here, although we have to say it isn’t THAT much more interesting.

We’ll continue to keep an eye out for progress on this upcoming spot, so be sure to stay tuned for more.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Dinosaur
The construction shrubs are still in place out in front of the entrance to Dinosaur in Animal Kingdom. This area was recently refurbished, but now it looks like more work is being done.
Have no fear, though (or maybe have a lot of it depending on how you feel about this attraction) because Dinosaur is still open for guests to ride!
Disney Resorts
Polynesian Village Resort
Construction is underway over where the Spirit of Aloha Luau theatre used to be at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. The area was demolished to make way for a brand new building that will house guest rooms, dining locations, and merchandise stores. For now, the area is a giant pile of dirt, so here’s a rendering of Disney’s concept art for the building instead!
Kona Café at the Polynesian is closed right now as well — Disney is refurbishing the restaurant for future enjoyment. We’re not sure what all that entails, but we can’t wait to find out! In the meantime, consider dining at ‘Ohana, Capt. Cook’s, or stop by and grab a drink at Trader Sam’s or Tambu Lounge!
Those are all the construction updates we have for you this time around. Chances are that things will be even more different on our next visit, so be sure to stick around for the latest updates and more news!

We have gone from a major re-facing of the front of the Poly and Monorail Station, to the takeover of half of the room by DVC, to the loss of the Aloha theater and dinner show, to a new tower of rooms to be built, plus the re-do of the pool and lobby area’s. What is left…all this change in about 3 years….
