UPDATE: Happily Ever After will return with new projections down Main Street, U.S.A on April 3, 2023.
Okay, nobody panic, but…ummm…yeah…we’re 🚨 FREAKING OUT over Disney’s HUGE fireworks news! 🚨
Magic Kingdom has had its fair share of fireworks shows over the years with some like Wishes and Happily Ever After becoming true fan favorites. Most recently, Happily Ever After was replaced by Disney Enchantment for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, and a special 50th Anniversary-themed tag was added to the beginning of the show. But now Disney has dropped some HUGE fireworks news.
💥 The HAPPILY EVER AFTER THEME SONG IS COMING BACK in a special way! 💥
Those who love Happily Ever After have probably been crossing their fingers for this show to return in some way to Disney World for a LONG time, and they’re not alone. Jordan Fisher, who sings some of the iconic song that is part of the Happily Ever After show, has been championing Happily Ever After’s return — and it seems like he too has gotten his wish…in a way! He even performed the song at the D23 Expo at the start of the Parks, Experiences, and Products panel.

Disney has announced that the Happily Ever After ANTHEM (a.k.a. the theme song) will be returning next year to Disney World as part of an updated fireworks spectacular. The big fireworks change was announced this year during the 2022 D23 Expo.
Keep in mind that Josh D’Amaro (Chairman of the Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products division) noted that it appears to be just the theme song that is returning. He noted that they will bring back the Happily Ever After theme song as part of an updated nighttime spectacular next year.

So it doesn’t appear that the Happily Ever After fireworks show itself will be returning in the form you knew from before, but we can’t wait to see what this “updated nighttime spectacular” looks like with the return of this beloved song.
The exact return date of the theme song and the updated nighttime spectacular has not been announced yet, but we’ll keep an eye out for updates.
The story surrounding the return of the Happily Ever After theme song is still developing, so we will update this post with more details as they’re released.

They need to use what they had and add to it, at most! If it ain’t broke don’t fix it! I’m HOPING they’ve learned their lesson with the atrocity that is “Enchantment” or as I like to refer to it “Disenchantment” I’m really excited about this familiar change, I just hope they don’t screw it up!

Someone was listening. Let’s see how well. The song will only mean what it once did – tough old me with a lump in my throat every single time at MK, and then on YouTube as we planned and executed our now somewhat questionable move to WDW – if the CONTEXT comes back. That narration reinforced the lyrics and emotionally-charged score, and vice-versa.
May we have a little of the old emotional connection back, please?

Sounds like people were cheering for the return of the actual Happily Ever After Fireworks Show to me. They never heard the anthem part. Disney should listen to the people.
Ray says
Should bring the whole show back. Even better would be WISHES.
Disney on the cheap yet again ☹️

It seems a lot of others are reporting that Happily Ever After, the SHOW, rather than the SONG, is returning. Did they not listen closely enough, or could it be?
