If you thought the last few years were busy for Disney, buckle up.
From new rides and a new private island to a brand new cruise ship, Dinsey’s got a lot in store for Disney World, Disneyland, and beyond in the next few years. Today we’re breaking down EVERYTHING coming to the Disney parks and beyond in 2022, 2023, and 2024!
During the 2022 D23 Expo, Disney announced a whole bunch of opening dates and shared information about upcoming projects. So just what is in store for the next few years? Well, the image below that Disney shared does a fairly good job of capturing most things that are on their way.
Let’s break it down.
Here are some of the big things on their list that opened in 2022:
- Fantasmic! returns to Disney World –November 3, 2022
- Believe! Sea of Dreams begins at Tokyo Disneyland — November 11th, 2022
- Eudora’s Chic Boutique (a Tiana-themed store) opens in Disneyland — September 20th, 2022
- The Mandalorian and Grogu appear at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland — mid-November 2022
- DisneyMe (a new avatar experience in the Play Disney Parks app) — guests got to celebrate the launch of DisneyMe (as part of the Disney Uncharted Adventure game on the Disney Wish cruise ship) at D23 Expo
- The launch of the car locator app for Disneyland — October 2022
- The launch of MagicBand+ in Disneyland — October 26, 2022
- The launch of “Hey, Disney!” at Disney World and Disneyland hotels — Testing began at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort in November 2022, and the rollout to other Disney World Resort hotels began in earnest in May 2023; an updated launch for Disneyland Resort has yet to be announced
What about 2023? Here are the big things from Disney’s list that opened or arrived in 2023:
- The reimagined Mickey’s Toontown opens in Disneyland — Opened on March 19, 2023
- Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway opens at Disneyland — Opened on January 27, 2023
- Opening of Roundup Rodeo restaurant in Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Disney World — Opened on March 23, 2023
- Disney 100 Years of Wonder — Kicked off in Disneyland January 27, 2023
- Tron Lightcycle/Run opens in Magic Kingdom in Disney World — Opened on April 4, 2023
- The new DVC lounge in Disneyland — Opened in April 2023
- Pixar Day at Sea on select Disney Cruise Line sailing on the Disney Fantasy — Debuted in January – early March 2023, and has returned for January – early March 2024
- The 100 Years of Disney Exhibit will launch — Opened in February in Philadelphia, PA
- Rosa Mexicano (a new restaurant) opens at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel — Opened March 19, 2023
- We Belong Together! A Pixar Musical Review opens at Disneyland Paris — Debuted July 15, 2023
- Disney 100 Years of Wonder Celebration in Disney World — EPCOT is serving as the host for the Disney100 celebrations in Disney World from September 22, 2023 through December 31st, 2023
- The Villas at Disneyland Hotel will open (this is the NEW DVC tower) — Opened on September 28, 2023
- Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana opens in EPCOT in Disney World — Opened on October 16, 2023
- Disney Cruise Line sailings from Australia and New Zealand — started in October 2023
- World of Frozen opens at Hong Kong Disneyland — OPENED on November 20, 2023
- The Hatbox Ghost materialized in the Haunted Mansion in Disney World — November 30, 2023
- NEW Nighttime Spectacular — Luminous The Symphony of Us — Debuted in EPCOT on December 5, 2023
- Walt the Dreamer Statue and World Celebration Gardens — Opened in EPCOT on December 5th, 2023
- Summer House on the Lake (new restaurant) opened in Disney World’s Disney Springs — Opened December 14th, 2023
- Pre-sale appointments opened for Disney’s new living community — Cotino, A Storyliving by Disney community — 2023
- Some of the transformation starts to take place at the Disney Village in Disneyland Paris — On December 8, 2023, a new lakeside French brasserie called Rosalie opened
2024 has more fun in store. And, in fact, some projects have already reached completion:
- Pixar Place Hotel (a transformation of Paradise Pier Hotel) in Disneyland Resort — Completed January 30th, 2024
- Disneyland Hotel transformation at Disneyland Paris — Reopened January 25th
- New Adventures at Star Tours in Disney World, Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris — April 5th, 2024
- Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point (Disney Cruise Line’s NEW Destination) — Opened to passengers beginning with a preview cruise on June 6th, 2024
- Fantasy Springs opens at Toyko DisneySEA — Opened June 6, 2024
- CommuniCore Hall and Plaza Opening in EPCOT — Opened June 10th, 2024
- Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Disney World — Opened June 28th, 2024
- New cabins debut at Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground — Phased opening began July 1st, 2024
- Country Bear Jamboree Transformation in Disney World — Debuted July 17th, 2024
- Changes come to Disney World’s Lightning Lanes — July 24th, 2024
- The Cake Bake Shop (a new restaurant) now open at Disney’s BoardWalk in Disney World — October 25, 2024
- Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Disneyland — November 15, 2024
- Disney Vacation Club new villas at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort in Disney World — Opened on December 17th, 2024
Here are the things still to come in 2024:
- The Disney Treasure cruise ship — Maiden Voyage will sail on December 21, 2024
In other words, the next few years are going to be BUSY. And that doesn’t even include announcements made about Disney movies, Marvel movies and series, Star Wars movies and series, Disney+, and beyond.
Now, keep in mind that these are the current dates announced by Disney for these projects, but dates and details are all subject to change. We’ve seen opening timelines change in the past, and it’s possible we could see that happen again. We’ll be keeping an eye out for more updates and we’ll let you know what we find.
