If you’re visiting Disney World in a wheelchair or an electric conveyance vehicle (ECV), you may have questions about just how accessible Disney World really is.
When it comes to Disney World rides, there are different levels of accessibility for every ride — meaning there are some queues that accommodate wheelchairs/ECVs, and some that do not. We have a comprehensive list of every ride’s accessibility options here, so you can arrive at Disney World feeling comfortable and ready to have fun.
May Remain in Wheelchair/ECV
Disney World has four different rides that allow guests to remain in their wheelchair or ECV the entire time — that means you can stay in your vehicle through the ride queue AND onto the ride. These rides include:
- Jungle Cruise
- Journey Into Imagination With Figment
- Liberty Square Riverboat
- Carousel of Progress
These rides have vehicles that accommodate wheelchairs and ECVs so that you never have to transfer out of your wheelchair or ECV.
Must Transfer From Wheelchair/ECV to Ride Vehicle
There are many Disney World rides that require you to transfer from either your wheelchair or ECV into the ride vehicle. This can be for a number of reasons, mostly due to the ride vehicle not being able to accommodate wheelchairs. For these rides, you can typically remain in your wheelchair through the ride queue, but you must exit your chair to enter the ride vehicle. The rides where you must transfer out of your wheelchair or ECV and into a ride vehicle are:
- Alien Swirling Saucers
- Astro Orbiter
- The Barnstormer
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
- Dinosaur
- Dumbo the Flying Elephant
- Expedition Everest
- Frozen Ever After
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
- Haunted Mansion
- Kali River Rapids
- Mad Tea Party
- Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
- Mission: SPACE
- Na’vi River Journey
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
- Soarin’
- Splash Mountain
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
- Test Track
- Tomorrowland Speedway
When you transfer into the ride vehicle, a Cast Member will typically move your chair to the exit queue, so that there is minimal time required for you to transfer from the ride vehicle and back to your chair.
Must Transfer From ECV to Wheelchair
When Disney requires a transfer from an ECV to a wheelchair, it means that in some way the ride does not accommodate ECVs specifically. If this happens to you, Cast Members will provide you with a wheelchair either at the entrance of the attraction, inside the building, or somewhere in the queue, depending on the ride.
- Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
- Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros
- “it’s a small world”
- Kilimanjaro Safaris
- Living with the Land
- The Magic Carpets of Aladdin
- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
- Prince Charming Regal Carrousel
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
- The Seas with Nemo & Friends
- Toy Story Mania
- TriceraTop Spin
- Under the Sea – Journey of The Little Mermaid
- Walt Disney World Railroad
Some of these rides (like “it’s a small world”) have ride vehicles that allow wheelchairs to board, but ECVs cannot. You don’t have to worry about transferring to a wheelchair, however, like at the rides we’ll discuss in a second, your ECV will be provided to you near the exit queue or the exit of the ride.
Must Transfer From ECV to Wheelchair, and from Wheelchair to Ride Vehicle
For these rides, there is something that makes ECVs unable to make it all the way to the boarding area of the ride. Oftentimes, it’s that the queue is too tight that an ECV would not fit, or there is something else that would prevent an ECV from making it to the boarding zone.
For rides where you must transfer into a wheelchair, the wheelchair will be provided at the attraction. The first transfer may occur at the entrance, inside the building, or elsewhere in the queue.
- Avatar Flight of Passage
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster
- Slinky Dog Dash
- Space Mountain
- Spaceship Earth
- Star Tours
- Tower of Terror

Most of the rides you mentioned allow ecv access to the loading area the only problem area is the haunted mansion
Robert Andrade says
Is there a way to reserve ecv ? I am unable to get to the park very early and in the past when I got there there were none available and I was stuck waiting hours until someone returned one.
DFB Gigi says
Hi Robert! There’s no way to reserve one of the Disney ECVs, but there are ECV rental companies in Orlando you might want to check out. We recommend Buena Vista Scooters.
Stephen M. Wermuth says
Thank You sooooo much!!! My daughter is in a wheelchair, and this list makes of choice of rides a lot easier!
KC says
This is available on the park map. It should be noted that this is for people in the type of mobility devices that Disney rents. People in permanent electric wheelchairs have a different list. Living with the land and Toy Story Mania are two rides where there are special ride vehicles to accomodate electric wheelchairs.
Lori Rienhardt says
Can you leave your ECV at the train station and board if you ride all the way around?
Shawn says
They have other ride that accommodate electric wheelchair…
in Epcot Ratatouille. in France
Mexican boat ride in …Mexico!
Greenhouse tour in the Land
Nemo ride in the Seas
And if you can get somebody to help you in your party, you can get on the guardians of the galaxies in the last seat and you can ride right up to the ride…
also Soarin. Ask for the first row… can ride up to the the row and your party can get you in the ride and then move your wheelchair to the back.
I have been able to ride almost every ride and I have an electric wheelchair. I can’t walk and I don’t have use of one of my arms . The only thing we can’t figure out is how to get me in the rapids and space Mountain !lol

Hello
Whatabout Epcot restaurants can I go to Monsieur Paul Restaurant with wheelchair/Ecv I can tranfer to chair but stairs are no go is there elevator?
Rite 1010 says
I want to just state that if your ecv is a joystick and not a scooter type, you can stay in it. I know this from experience with a friend who could not transfer at all.
Alice says
I have difficulty getting out of rides with low seats due to decrease strength in my legs. What rides at MK can I ride with these issues? I have trouble getting out of Frozen, the ride at Epcot earlier this week? Thanks!
DFB Gigi says
Hi Alice! I’m so sorry to hear you had some difficulties with Frozen. Some other rides you may want to avoid because they’re known to be difficult to get in and out of are as follows:
Magic Kingdom:
Astro Orbiter
Space Mountain
Tomorrowland Speedway
TRON Lightcycle Run (But you can ask for one of the modified seats in the back that aren’t one of the cycles)
Jungle Cruise
Pirates of the Caribbean
It’s a Small World
Animal Kingdom:
Avatar – Flight of Passage
KP says
Great info, do you have similar ecv, wheelchair for California parks?
