From September 15th to November 15th, Disney World is celebrating Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month!
It’s time to celebrate Hispanic and Latin American cultures with new and returning flavors, and some of the items are only available for a limited time! Over in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you can try two NEW offerings, so you know we had to stop by! Let’s go check them out.
Over in Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Nomad Lounge, you can try two NEW offerings for Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month! This lounge is one of our favorite places to visit in Animal Kingdom, and you can typically get a table by joining the Walk-Up Waitlist (although sometimes the waitlist can be long!).
Let’s check out the special menu items!
We stopped by to try the NEW Birria Tacos, made with braised veal, Oaxaca cheese, lime Tajin, and consommé to dip the tacos in. Ours also had onion in it that wasn’t mentioned on the menu. You can get them for $15.
This meat is absolutely delicious and pairs really well with the corn tortilla! The cheese is also pretty subtle — the meat is the stronger flavor here.
We weren’t huge fans of the consommé though, the flavors were kind of contradictory to the flavors in the taco.
Also watch out, because these are pretty messy to eat! If you’re a fan of birria tacos or street tacos in general, you’ll probably enjoy these! But, if you’re not a fan of onion or veal, we’d grab something else on the menu if we were you.
We also ordered the Cuban Frita Sliders which are on the menu for the celebration! These are beef and pork patties with crispy shoestring potatoes and a side of mojo yuca fries. There’s also some kind of sweet jam-like sauce on the sliders that isn’t mentioned on the menu. You can get these for $16!
The meat is very well seasoned and the sauce is both smoky and sweet. The flavor combo is delicious!
The bun is also very soft and the potatoes add a nice crunch. We really loved these sliders and would definitely order them again!
The yuca fries are mojo seasoned, so there’s a little bit of spice in the seasoning. They weren’t super spicy though. But, we do wish our fries were a bit crispier!
If you’re a fan of sliders and simple but delicious items, this is a great option.
If you have a sweet tooth, you can order the classic Churros with vanilla crema and coffee crème anglaise, which is a permanent menu item at Nomad Lounge and a fan favorite. They’re also gluten free!
If you’re in the mood for more Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month offerings, you can try a special burger over in Disney Springs, or the Michelada in Hollywood Studios!
The Birria Tacos and the Cuban Frita Sliders are available from September 15th to October 15th so make sure you stop by Nomad Lounge before they’re gone! Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World food news and reviews.
