We got to hear some BIG news and updates at the 2022 D23 Expo.
But, the updates don’t stop there because Disney World is changing every day. Chances are it looks a bit different than it did on your last visit! Since we’re in the parks every single day, we notice the little things (and the big things!) and so we’re back with another look at the biggest Disney World construction updates from this week!
Magic Kingdom
Center Street
New brick pavers are being laid over on Center Street, so for now it’s still blocked off. Disney has been working on this area for a long time, but now we’re excited to see some real progress being made!
We’ll keep an eye on this area and let you know of any more updates!
Walt Disney World Railroad
More train tracks have been put down over in Tomorrowland! The Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for over three years due to construction on TRON.
And, while we didn’t get to SEE the train testing, we did get to HEAR it! You can too in the video below.
🚨 LISTEN CLOSELY! 🚨 We caught some train testing at Magic Kingdom and those noises are getting us so excited! 🚂 pic.twitter.com/9mBneGPdJ3

Since an opening timeline was announced for TRON, we might be even closer to the railroad opening than we thought!
TRON: Lightcycle Run
Speaking of an opening date for TRON, we learned at the D23 Expo that it will be opening in Spring 2023!
Unfortunately, that was about as specific as Disney got, but you can be sure that we’ll keep you updated with the latest news.

EPCOT
CommuniCore Hall
It looks like some wood siding is going up over in the CommuniCore Hall area in the center of EPCOT. This area has been mostly dirt for a while, so we’re excited to see some progress.
CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza are coming to the World Celebration neighborhood as part of the EPCOT Transformation.

Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana
Look what has popped up over at the Moana attraction coming to EPCOT! We spotted this detailing go up last week, and we’re so excited to see crews working on putting finishing touches on this area. Plus, we learned at the D23 Expo that the attraction would be opening in late 2024!
Not only that, but we got to see a look at the massive Te Fiti that will be part of the attraction!
We can’t wait for Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana to open, but for now, we’ll have to settle for getting all the updates we can!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Woody’s Roundup Rodeo BBQ
This is not a drill!!!!! Scaffolding has gone up at Woody’s Roundup Rodeo BBQ in Hollywood Studios and we are loving every minute of it!
The new table service restaurant is scheduled to open up sometime later this year!

Disney Resorts
Polynesian Village Resort
It’s still just mostly piles of dirt over at the Poly, although some more machines and a few vehicles were spotted in the construction zone on our most recent monorail ride.
And, don’t forget that Kona Café is currently closed for refurbishment. If you’re looking for somewhere else to eat at the Polynesian, check out Capt. Cook’s, ‘Ohana, or Trader Sam’s!
Yacht Club Resort
You’ll find some sidewalk/boardwalk construction over at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, but it shouldn’t affect your visit at all!
It’s pretty clear that your next Disney World visit is probably going to look at least a little bit different than your last when you look at all of the construction going on! Not to mention, new events and special experiences are taking place all the time — so it’s almost always a great time to visit.
