Air travel can be really difficult right now, that’s for sure.
We do our best to keep you updated on flight deals, airline and airport news, and provide tips on how you can make travel easier for you and your family. We’re doing our best to make your lives easier by helping you find the cheapest flights you can find. That’s why we wanted to introduce you to Skyscanner, a metasearch engine and travel agency that lets people research and book travel options for their trips, including flights, hotels, and car hire. We’re walking you through a step-by-step guide for booking the cheapest flight you can through Skyscanner.
To search for these flights, you can download the Skyscanner app, or go through their website.
Flexible Travel Dates? Search A Whole Month At Once
If your dates are flexible but you know you want to travel in a certain month, Skyscanner will allow you to search for whole months at a time to see what the prices are to travel to different destinations.
Search By The Cheapest Month Option
On the website, you can search by cheapest month if you don’t know when you want to travel, or will schedule your vacation off the cheapest plane tickets you find.
Choose From The Airports Around You
If the cheapest option, or any option, has more than one airport to choose from for departing or arriving, you can choose the Airports tab in the Filters section and choose which airport you’d like to fly in/out of. As you can see below, changing airports will result in a price difference.
See What The Lowest Ticket Is For Each Location At A Glance
When you search up a location, you can see what the lowest ticket offered is, so you can quickly get an idea of what destinations are in your budget, and which you can mark off in a moment.
Last Minute Flight? Know You’re Getting The Cheapest Flight Offered
Skyscanner allows you to quickly see what the best, cheapest, and most expensive flights are for your trip, even if your trip is last minute — even if it’s the next day.
Get Price Alerts On Flights
Looking to track prices on a certain flight, even if it’s over a whole month? Create an account with Skyscanner and you can set up as many alerts as you’d like.
However, Skyscanner doesn’t come without its warnings. Sometimes flight prices ghost, meaning they show on Skyscanner, but when you go to book it at the price, it’s not on the airline’s site. This is because Skyscanner does not live update, but it updates on other users’ searches, and updates every 8 days otherwise. Therefore, you’ll have the most accurate pricing on popular destinations, but potentially not lesser-known ones.
