A complete overhaul might be coming to DinoLand U.S.A. in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but that change will likely not happen for several years. There are, however, a lot of smaller changes happening in this park all the time.
Come along with us as we walk through Animal Kingdom and discover what’s NEW in this park since our last visit.
We’ll start out with a few updates about the construction projects happening throughout the park.
Animal Kingdom Construction Updates
Currently, one of the Oasis animal exhibits (located at the front of the park) is blocked off. There’s a green construction wall in front of it, so you can’t see inside. Disney hasn’t announced what changes are coming to this exhibit, but we’ll keep a watch on this project and let you know when it’s finished.
At DINOSAUR (the thrill ride in DinoLand U.S.A.), the fountain in front of the ride is currently blocked off by hedges. This fountain is likely getting some refurbishments done to spruce it up.
You can still ride DINOSAUR right now — the construction has not shut down the ride.
Animal Kingdom Merchandise Updates
A few shops around this park also got some new merchandise in.
Island Mercantile
At Island Mercantile, you can pick up a new The Lion King ornament for $24.99.
And if your little one wants to dress up like Mirabel from Encanto for Halloween, there’s a new Mirabel costume accessory kit for $39.99.
The Mirabel dress is also back in stock here.
The dress costs $59.99.
Riverside Depot
At Riverside Depot, you can find a watercolor set themed to Disney’s The Aristocats for $14.99.
There’s also a handheld fan with classic Disney movie designs printed on it for $12.99.
And finally, we found a Hades headband here.
The headband looks like Hades’ flame hairstyle, and it lights up when you flip the switch on it.
Mombasa Marketplace
Over in the Africa section of this park, we found a few new stuffed animals at Mombasa Marketplace. There was a black monkey plush…
…and a brown monkey plush, both for $24.99.
There’s also a stuffed okapi here for $19.99.
Did you know that the okapi’s closest relative is actually the giraffe? (If you’ve been on Kilimanjaro Safaris, you might have heard that fun fact there!)
Windtraders
Over in Pandora — The World of Avatar, we found one of the coolest Loungefly backpacks we’ve seen yet. This bag is themed after the banshees that you’ll see both in the movie Avatar and on the Flight of Passage ride in this park.
The wings extend outwards or fold back in. You can get this bag for $95 from Windtraders.
Creature Comforts
And last but not least, we spotted a new ornament at Creature Comforts — the Starbucks location in this park.
The ornament looks like a miniature Starbucks tumbler, with designs of Animal Kingdom attractions on the side. You can get it for $17.99.
