Hurricane Ian is headed toward Florida, and things are changing quickly as everyone gets prepared.
Disney World, Universal Orlando, and SeaWorld are all closing for the next couple of days, schools closures have been announced, and Florida is under a state of emergency. Hotels in the Orlando area have begun offering special pricing for evacuees, and we’ve also seen no availability for hotels in Disney World. Now, we’ve got an update on changes happening at a hotel near Disney World.
The Holiday Inn Orlando in the Disney Springs area has given an update to its guests on what they’re doing for the storm. One of our reporters is staying at the hotel and received this info from the hotel:
So, modified/limited services will be offered at the hotel due to the storm and adjusted staffing levels. This includes services like housekeeping and food offerings. Housekeeping will not be servicing the rooms and laundry service won’t be available. So, if you need anything essential like toilet paper, you will need to contact the front desk.
As shown on the info sheet, food services will still be available, with breakfast running from 7AM to 10:30AM and lunch and dinner going from 12PM to 9PM. The bar will also still be offering full beverage service from noon until 10PM.
The hotel also noted that all exit doors will be locked from the outside, so you will be able to exit the hotel, but will have to re-enter through the main entrance at the front of the building.
And, if you’re seeking additional shelter, the ballroom on the first floor is available. This is also where guests should go if there is a tornado. The Holiday Inn is asking guests to bring their furniture from the balcony into their rooms and keep the doors closed until the storm passes.
