To ensure we are equipping our readers with all the information they need, we will continue to report on all travel, safety, and COVID-related news that could impact a Disney Parks visit.
Although most of the health and safety policies that we saw at Disney for the COVID-19 pandemic have ended now, there are still a few lingering changes. Face mask requirements are gone, most restaurants have reopened, and physical distancing is no longer being enforced. So what’s different?
The Disney Cruise Line has required all eligible guests to be vaccinated for COVID-19, with most sailings also requiring COVID-19 testing before anyone can board the ship. That testing requirement has recently changed, and fully vaccinated guests sailing on most Disney cruise ships no longer have to take a COVID-19 test before boarding. Now, another policy change is coming soon.
Disney has announced that, beginning October 14th, 2022, guests sailing on the Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, and Disney Wish will no longer be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Beginning November 7th, 2022, the same change goes into effect for the Disney Magic. Disney notes that being vaccinated is still highly recommended.
With this change, all guests ages 5 years old and older who are not fully vaccinated must submit proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken 1-2 days before their sail date. Guests ages 4 years old and younger will not be required to submit a test.
Thanks to Sue from Small World Vacations for alerting us to this Disney Cruise Line change. If you’re sailing on a Disney cruise soon, you should receive an email about this change.
To recap:
- Fully vaccinated guests: No testing required.
- Unvaccinated guests (ages 5 years old and older): COVID-19 test required 1-2 days before the sail date. The test may be an observed antigen test through a proctored telehealth service with digital results. A rapid or lab-based PCR test, or Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) is also acceptable.
- Unvaccinated guests (ages 4 years old and younger): No testing required.
In order to be exempt from COVID-19 testing requirements, fully vaccinated guests will need to upload proof of vaccination to Disney’s Inspire Diagnostics Safe Passage website by midnight before their sail date. Unvaccinated guests will need to upload their negative COVID-19 test results to the same website by midnight before their sail date. Once the applicable documents are uploaded, you should see “Clear to Arrive” or “Clear to Sail” in the Pre-Sail Screening section of your Safe Passage account.
To be safe, you should bring a copy of your proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test result to the port when you board.

I find it amusing that the vaccinated don’t have to be tested before going on a cruise when every vaccinated person I know who’s gone on a fully vaccinated cruise has gotten Covid while on the cruise. Every single one.
If they are still testing, it needs to be everyone, not just one group.

It’s amusing that Disney is allowing vaccinated guests to forgo COVID-19 testing when it’s been shown time and time again that those who are vaccinated are more likely to catch COVID-19. It’s time to get rid of all COVID-19 requirements, including masks, social distancing, vaccines, and testing.
