GRAB YOUR FIGMENT POPCORN BUCKETS, THIS IS NOT A DRILL.
Figment, the purple dragon who is the star of EPCOT’s Journey Into Imagination with Figment attraction, has quite the fan following. He’s become the mascot, in a way, of many of EPCOT’s festivals, a Figment meet-and-greet is coming back to EPCOT in the future, there was an entire Figment popcorn bucket fiasco, and we’ve seen all kinds of Figment items released in the past. But now we have HUGE news for Figment fans.
According to Deadline, Disney is working on a movie all about the fan-favorite character, Figment from EPCOT’s Imagination Pavilion!
The movie is being made with Seth Rogan’s Point Grey. Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit, from Pokemon Detective Pikachu — are set to write the film.
Other details haven’t been shared about the film, but we cannot wait to learn more.
Will it feature Dreamfinder? Will it have a steampunk feel like some of the Dreamfinder and Figment comic books? What exactly will the movie focus on — Figment’s origin story? Figment adventures? We have SO MANY QUESTIONS.
If you love seeing Disney characters or things from the parks transformed into movies, then you’re in luck because Disney is working on quite a few park-to-movie projects right now. A Haunted Mansion movie (yes, another one) is in the works, and we’ve already got news about some of the stars that will be in it!
But wait…there’s MORE. A Thunder Mountain movie is also reportedly in the works, and Disney is also working on a Tower of Terror movie (yes, another one). There have also been discussions about a Pirates of the Caribbean movie with Margot Robbie. Plus, a Space Mountain movie is also reportedly in the works.
In other words, if you love seeing Disney park rides in movies, this is your time to shine!
This is a developing story so check back for updates! You can bet that we’ll be hunting for any and all details about this Figment film.

Disney is making movies based on attractions in their parks. Nothing new there. Only issue–lazy, lacking original thought and often lacking in execution. Pirates of the Carribean was good because of the director and concept, but not all of them were that good (lest we forget the Country Bears movie).
Disney should have softened the blow and also did a new Splash Mountain movie based on the ride’s characters and leaving Song of the South in the rear view mirror. They then could have saved one of their best classic rides and created something new for Tiana.
