Hurricane Ian has continued to strengthen as it has approached Florida, causing residents and visitors alike to be on high alert.

Tornado warnings have been issued for one Disney World county, with the rest of Florida under a state of emergency. Much was uncertain about where or when the storm would come ashore, but now it looks like our questions have been answered — as Hurricane Ian has officially made landfall in Florida.
According to WESH News, Hurricane Ian made landfall in Cayo Costa, Florida with winds of 150 mph — making it officially landing as a Category 4 storm at 3:05PM ET.
305 PM EDT 28 Sep — Hurricane #Ian has made landfall as an extremely dangerous Category 4 hurricane near Cayo Costa, Florida with maximum sustained winds at 150 mph. The minimum pressure from Air Force Reconnaissance Hurricane Hunters was 940 mb.

At the time of the 3PM advisory, the storm had maximum sustained winds of 155 mph and was moving north-northeast at 9 mph. Hurricane Ian has already caused significant flooding to much of southwest Florida and is expected to bring catastrophic winds and flooding to the state.

Rains, winds, and severe storms are forecast for much of Central Florida through Thursday, with tornadoes and flooding still being a concern as well.

Disney World’s theme parks, Universal Orlando, and SeaWorld have all announced closures. Disney World’s theme parks will be closed Tuesday, September 28th, and Wednesday, September 29th. Disney Springs will be closed on September 28th, and it is currently expected that it’ll remain closed through the 29th as well.

This has been crazy! WDW was not fully prepared for the onslaught of guests extending their stay, filling up the lobby shops and foodservice and clearing out shelves. We are sitting in our room with very little to do. They are great at entertaining the kids , but the adults are left to fend for themselves. The highlight of my day will be going to the laundromat (waiting in line, again) to wash my clothes.
The closure dates are Wednesday and Thursday.
