October is the time for anniversaries, spooky parties, and exciting treats in Disney World. If you’re heading into the parks soon, you’ve probably already started your preparations for the trip.
We’d love to help you get ready! We have all kinds of resources, like lists of the best restaurants, must-get packing essentials, and which attractions you should prioritize. It’s also important to know what’s NOT going to be available on your next trip. Take a look at everything that’s scheduled to be CLOSED in Disney World in October 2022.
Magic Kingdom
Walt Disney World Railroad
The Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for YEARS, and it looks like this attraction will remain closed through October as well. Disney hasn’t announced a reopening date for the Railroad yet.
Part of the reason for its closure could be that construction on the upcoming TRON: Lightcycle Run roller coaster over in Tomorrowland has interrupted the tracks. That coaster is expected to open in the spring of 2023, so it’s possible that the Railroad will be closed until then.
We have, however, heard some train testing going on in Magic Kingdom, so we know that Disney is preparing for a reopening at some point!
Tomorrowland Light & Power Co.
Speaking of Tomorrowland, the Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. gift shop (the one you walk through after riding Space Mountain) is currently closed.
Disney hasn’t announced yet when this gift shop will reopen, but it’s scheduled to be closed through all of October for now.
Pete’s Silly Sideshow
This character meet-and-greet spot in Storybook Circus is still closed as well. Previously, you could meet Minnie, Daisy, Donald, and Goofy here in their circus performer outfits.
Disney has said that this location will reopen sometime “in the coming months,” and that announcement was made a few months ago. So we’re on the lookout for the Silly Sideshow to return soon!
Ariel’s Grotto
Another character meet-and-greet that’s still not back is Ariel’s Grotto. Disney hasn’t announced when Ariel will be back to meet guests here.
However, the nearby omnimover ride Under the Sea — Journey of the Little Mermaid is still open!
Enchanted Tales with Belle
The last closure for Magic Kingdom is Enchanted Tales with Belle. This attraction is where you could previously meet Belle and help her tell the story of Beauty and the Beast.
Although you can sometimes still meet Belle here, the full attraction has not yet returned. Disney hasn’t announced when it will reopen.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Fantasmic!
Fantasmic! is reopening soon, but we don’t have an exact date yet for its return. Disney has just announced that it’ll reopen sometime in 2022.
Cast Member rehearsals for the show have already begun, and we can’t wait to see it when it’s finally back!
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
Another Little Mermaid-themed attraction is also closed in Disney World, this time in Hollywood Studios. The stage show “Voyage of the Little Mermaid” is not currently open.
Disney hasn’t announced when or if this show will return.

EPCOT
The American Adventure
The American Adventure show in EPCOT’s World Showcase is currently closed. A Cast Member informed us that this closure is for routine refurbishment on the animatronics.
Disney hasn’t announced when this show will reopen, but for now, it’s listed as being closed for all of October.
Canada Far & Wide in CircleVision 360
The EPCOT Food & Wine Festival is currently going on in this park, but what does this have to do with Canada Far & Wide? Well, one Food & Wine booth — Appleseed Orchard, to be exact — has taken over the theater where this film usually plays.
So instead of watching a movie about Canada, you can grab an apple tart and some drinks! We’re expecting the film attraction to return after the Food & Wine Festival ends on November 19th.
See the treats that are coming to EPCOT for the park’s 40th anniversary.
Disney World Hotels
Kona Café at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Kona Café is still closed for refurbishment, but it might reopen on November 1st.
Disney World’s website is showing no hours for this restaurant through October 31st, with hours showing once again when November begins. This could be a glitch on the site, but we’ll be on the lookout for an announcement from Disney to confirm the information.
Narcoossee’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort
Narcoossee’s is a table service restaurant that serves seafood at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. This spot is currently closed, and it’s scheduled to reopen sometime next year.
It’ll reopen with an “enhanced table service experience.”
Pools at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort
A couple of pools will be closed in October at Saratoga Springs Resort. The Congress Park Pool and the Treehouse Villa pools will be closed from October 3rd through mid-December 2022.
In the meantime, you can still head to the other pools at this hotel: the High Rock Spring Pool, the Grandstand Pool, and the Paddock Pool. Disney has announced that there will be shuttle transportation provided between the Treehouse Villas and the High Rock Springs Pool from 10AM to 5PM each day.

Disney World Water Parks
Blizzard Beach
Blizzard Beach has been closed for all of 2022 so far, and it’s going to continue its closure through October as well. Disney hasn’t announced yet when it will reopen.
In the meantime, you can head to Disney World’s other water park — Typhoon Lagoon!
