Is it just us or is 2022 going by REALLY really fast??
Somehow it’s already October, and now we’re reflecting on all the tasty (and not-so-tasty) Disney World foods we ate in September. We tried some new foods, found new favorites, and also some that won’t make our list of faves. Find out the six BEST and the six WORST foods we ate in Disney World this September!
The Six Best
Chicken Souvlaki Flatbread — Pinocchio Village Haus
The Chicken Souvlaki Flatbread from Pinocchio Village Haus was something we were somewhat wary of — but it turned out to be a big surprise! It is a flatbread topped with marinated chicken, tomatoes, cucumber, and tzatziki on top and we found it light and refreshing. The flatbread was cooked well, the chicken was marinated and tender, and the toppings worked really well together.Â
If you’re looking for something filling but still somewhat light, this is a good option! Stop by Pinocchio Village Haus in Magic Kingdom to give it a try for $11.99.

Cochinita Pibil Tamal – La Hacienda de San Angel
September was Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month, which meant we got to try all kinds of new and delicious foods for a limited time! The Cochinita Pibil Tamal from La Hacienda de San Angel in EPCOT was one of those new dishes, consisting of Cochinita pibil in corn masa topped with pipián sauce, queso cotija, and crema Mexicana for $12.
We thought the tamal was incredible! The flavors, the spices, the sauces…YUM. Note that it does come with peanuts, in case you’re allergic, and it’s only available through October 15th, so don’t wait too long!

Zesty Signature Sauce – Connections Cafe
Yes, a sauce made the list! The Zesty Signature Sauce was a mysterious surprise from Connections Cafe, and we noticed it as an addition to the condiments area. It was labeled as “Zesty Signature Sauce,” and we were intrigued. We can’t turn down a new sauce!
The sauce was kind of like ranch with dill, and some added zesty spice. It was similar to the consistency of a salad dressing, and we loved it! In fact, we even thought about drinking it. If you find yourself in Connections Cafe with some chicken strips, this might be the perfect dipping sauce!

Chochinita Pibil – Choza de Margarita
The Chochinita Pibil from Choza de Margarita in EPCOT was part of Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month, made with citrus-marinated pulled pork served on corn tortillas with pickled red onions and a mango habanero relish, served with a side of corn esquites for $10.50.
These might just be the BEST tacos in Disney World. For real! We loved the sweet and crispy corn, the spicy mayo topping, and the citrus flavor on the pork was delicious. It was a little messy but we really didn’t mind, and we loved the big kick of spice too! They’re available through October 15th.
Here’s our full review of the Chochinita Pibil.
Malumita – La Cava del Tequila
And speaking of the best, the Malumita in EPCOT might be our new favorite drink from La Cava del Tequila. It’s made with Contraluz Mezcal Cristalino, pineapple, Chile Poblano Liqueur, lime, Italicus, and tortilla ash salt for $25, and it was originally meant to be a one-day offering — but it was so popular that it’s still available!
The Mezcal gave the drink an incredible smokiness that didn’t overpower the Italicus liqueur, and the ginger added a sweet and fresh taste. We also loved the pineapple flavoring and the tortilla salt rim was fun!

Peanut Butter Cold Brew Cookie – Gideon’s Bakehouse
Gideon’s Bakehouse offers a different cookie flavor every month and September’s flavor was NEW! The Peanut Butter Cold Brew Cookie is made with a peanut butter cookie laced with freshly ground espresso and fully covered in chopped Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Reese’s Pieces for $6.
If you love the combo of chocolate and peanut butter, this cookie is a DREAM! The mix of coffee and peanut butter was balanced nicely, too. It was only available in September but who knows — we might see it come back again someday!

The Six Worst
Chef Verónica’s Birria Tacos – Sunshine Seasons
All right, we’re getting to the worst dishes now — but keep in mind that just because we didn’t like something doesn’t mean it won’t work for someone else! Let’s start with Chef Verónica’s Birria Tacos from Sunshine Seasons in EPCOT, which was part of Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month. These birria tacos were made with beef, Monterey Jack, onions, cilantro, and lime served with consommé for $9.99.
Sounds great, right? Unfortunately, as much as we liked the tender beef and the flavors of onions and cilantro, the tacos were basically flavorless. We couldn’t really taste the meat and the other flavors overpowered everything. You can try them through October 15th.

Michelada – BaseLine Taphouse
The Michelada from BaseLine Taphouse in Disney’s Hollywood Studios is another Latin American Heritage Month offering, made with Golden Road Golden State Cerveza, tomato-clam juice, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and chili-lime seasoning for $10.
If you’re a Bloody Mary fan you might enjoy it, but it tasted like…spicy tomato beer, which wasn’t our favorite. It was REALLY spicy — TOO spicy, actually. But if this sounds like something you’d enjoy, it’s available through October 18th.

Wish Come True Slushy – Pinocchio’s Village Haus
We’re back at Pinocchio’s Village Haus with the Wish Come True Slushy, a blue raspberry slushy with red passion fruit whipped cream and boba pearls for $5.99. And while it was adorable, it was WAY too sweet.
It was also refreshing but the blue dye was so strong that it turned our mouths BLUE! Although the boba pearls were fun, it was ultimately just way too sweet for us, and the heavy blue dye was the cherry on top of the slushy.

Jack Skellington Bubble Waffle – Marketplace Snacks
The Jack Skellington Bubble Waffle from Marketplace Snacks in Disney Springs is a special Halloween offering, made with chocolate ice cream served with chocolate shavings, marshmallows, and orange sprinkles on top inside a bubble waffle for $8.99. And honestly, the TASTE wasn’t bad, but there was another big issue.
The chocolate ice cream and the bubble waffle were delicious, but then we learned the truth — this treat is MESSY. It got all over us! If you don’t want to spend 10 minutes cleaning up, you should probably skip this one. Also, it’s one of the plainer bubble waffles there, so you might want to choose a different one.

Pumpkin Apple Tart – Amorette’s Patisserie
The Pumpkin Apple Tart from Amorette’s Patisserie is made with pumpkin-spiced mousse, port wine-poached apple, and hazelnut crunch for $8, and we never thought we’d say this but it was TOO MUCH FALL.
There was simply too much going on. While we liked the pumpkin mouse’s subtle pumpkin flavor, the strong and tart apple flavor did NOT work with it. We hate to say it but it was just too many flavors in one treat.
Here’s our review of the Pumpkin Apple Tart!
Cream Cheese Soft Serve – Swirls on the Water
And finally, at Swirls on the Water in Disney Springs, you can get the Witches Dole Whip Flight, inspired by the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus. It includes three different flavors, Pumpkin Soft Serve, Cheesecake Soft Serve, and Pineapple Dole Whip with white chocolate embellishments for $6.49.
While the other two flavors were fine, the Cheesecake Soft Serve made us feel like we were just eating a block of sweetened cheese. On a hot day, it wasn’t a great experience. If you still want to try this flight, we recommend combining the Pineapple Dole Whip with the Cheesecake Soft Serve!
