We’re getting closer and closer to the opening of the TRON roller coaster in Magic Kingdom!
Back in 2017, Disney announced plans to open TRON Lightcycle Run in Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland, and its opening was subsequently delayed from 2021 to Spring 2023. Our favorite way to keep an eye on construction progress is to take a ride on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover and on a recent ride, we noticed a BIG development!
Taking a ride on the PeopleMover is the best way to see TRON Lightcycle Run’s current look, and we’ve observed Cast Members working on the ride, vehicles moving, groundwork being laid, and lots more.
We’re here to keep you up to date on everything happening with the construction, so here’s what we know so far! The canopy for the ride looks like it’s mostly completed, and we’ve seen concrete walls…
…and progress with the groundwork.
We’ve also been able to catch different phases of ride vehicle testing, such as the full-speed launch.
And Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. closed for construction nearby, and the current state of the exterior of the store is mostly just concrete.
Up until recently, the Walt Disney World Railroad tunnel was just that — a tunnel. The Railroad has been closed due to TRON construction since 2018, and a reopening date has not yet been announced.
But on a recent trip to Magic Kingdom, we noticed that railroad tracks were laid down!
These NEW tracks lead into the tunnel, where the Walt Disney World Railroad will eventually travel through.
Stay tuned to DFB for more TRON updates, and in the meantime, you can also keep up with the Walt Disney World Railroad construction progress. Looking for a new thrill ride in Disney World? Stop by Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT!

We’re going to Disney in Feb 2023. So bummed we’re going to miss the opening of Tron. But still holding out a tiny bit of hope that maybe we’ll catch a soft opening 🤷♀️ 🙏
Excited for Guardians of the Galaxy though! Haven’t been on that one yet 😊
And hopefully we’ll get to see Fantasmic! We’ll get on Tron someday!

DFB referred to the Tron effort as a ride and not an attraction. For years Disney spent billions convincing guests that their version of fun was Attractions nd not rides. I wonder if Disney has made the change to becoming a thrill ride park instead 0f an Family Entertainment Attraction. Small not to the future of the parks and what is coming. Sad day for future guests.
