Reopening restaurants, new merchandise, and price increases — a lot has changed recently at Disney World.
If you’re heading to the parks soon, you’ll want to check out some of the changes so that you’re prepared before your trip. You can click here to see some construction updates going on right now, or check out some restaurants you may not have realized are STILL closed. Right now, we have a list of all the temporary closures that you can expect to see at the parks and hotels this week (October 16th through the 22nd) — check out the full list here!
A quick note before we dive into the closures: Need a new graphic tee (uh, when don’t you need a new graphic tee!)? We’re dropping new Disney-themed designs! Click here to see ‘em!
Now that you’re ready with the perfect Disney shirts, check out our full list of what’s going to be CLOSED in Disney World this week.
Magic Kingdom
Walt Disney World Railroad
The Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for a long time now (we’re talking multiple years), and there’s still no word on when it will reopen.
We’ve heard some train testing in the park, but the railroad could remain closed until construction wraps up on the TRON: Lightcycle Run coaster over in Tomorrowland. This project (which has interrupted some parts of the railroad tracks) should be finished in the spring of 2023.
Recently, we’ve seen more tracks being added over in this area, so it’s possible that the railroad could reopen before TRON construction is completely finished. We’ll be on the lookout for updates from Disney.
Tomorrowland Light & Power Co.
The gift shop at the end of the Space Mountain ride is also closed right now, so guests are being directed to exit this attraction a different way.
From what we can see, it looks like Disney is working on updates both inside and outside this shop. They haven’t announced yet when it could reopen.
Enchanted Tales with Belle
Enchanted Tales with Belle is a character meet-and-greet attraction where you could help Belle tell the story of Beauty and the Beast.
Although this spot is still closed (with no announcements about its reopening), you can sometimes still find Belle in this area meeting guests.
Pete’s Silly Sideshow
Another character spot in Magic Kingdom that’s still closed is Pete’s Silly Sideshow. This is where you could meet Donald, Goofy, Daisy, and Minnie in their circus performer outfits.
Disney has said that this spot will reopen “in the coming months,” so we’re watching carefully for its return!
Meet Ariel at Her Grotto
Ariel’s Grotto — where you could meet The Little Mermaid — is still closed in Fantasyland. Disney hasn’t announced when it will reopen.
However, you can still take a ride on Under the Sea — Journey of the Little Mermaid (which is located nearby!) to see Ariel and her story.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
Speaking of The Little Mermaid, another attraction that’s currently closed is the Voyage of the Little Mermaid stage show in Hollywood Studios.
Disney hasn’t commented on this show’s closure at all, so we don’t know when or if it will reopen.
Fantasmic!
The nighttime show Fantasmic! is finally reopening soon. It will return in November of this year, and we can’t wait to see it when it’s finally back!
Cast Member rehearsals are going on right now, and Disney has announced that there will be a few changes when the show reopens (like new stunts, characters, and scenes).
A new restaurant is coming to Hollywood Studios — see the latest updates here.
EPCOT
Canada Far & Wide in CircleVision 360
This film attraction about the natural beauty of Canada is currently closed because the Appleseed Orchard Food & Wine Festival booth is using the theater space to serve up tasty apple-flavored eats and drinks.
We’re expecting Canada Far & Wide to return after the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival ends on November 19th.
American Adventure Pavilion
The American Adventure show in EPCOT’s World Showcase is still closed as well.
Disney hasn’t given any update about when the show could return, but we heard from a Cast Member that the closure was for some routine refurbishments on the animatronics, so hopefully it doesn’t stay closed for too long.
Monsieur Paul is finally reopening in EPCOT — see the new menu here.
Disney World Hotels
Kona Café — Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Kona Café is temporarily closed at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, but not for too much longer. It’ll reopen on November 1st, 2022. You can make reservations now if you want to visit once it reopens.
While it’s closed, however, you can still grab food from Kona Café by using the My Disney Experience app to Mobile Order breakfast, lunch, and dinner from Kona Café To-Go. You’ll pick up your food right next to Kona Island.
Narcoossee’s — Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort
At Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, the upscale seafood restaurant Narcoossee’s is also temporarily closed. This restaurant closed back in July.
Narcoossee’s will reopen sometime in 2023 with an “enhanced table-service experience.”
Check out new eats and drinks at Disney World hotels.
Disney World Water Parks
Blizzard Beach
One of Disney World’s water parks — Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park — is still closed right now. But you can still visit Typhoon Lagoon (Disney World’s other water park).
If you want to know more about what’s going on inside Blizzard Beach right now, check out our recent post.
Learn more about the Blizzard Beach refurbishment here.
As you get ready for your vacation, you’ll need to make sure you’ve got all the essentials packed. Click here to see a few items you should not travel without! And if you’re looking for a new bag to take into the parks, Disney has several new Loungefly backpacks that should do the trick. For a cheaper option, check out these Walmart Loungefly dupes.
