We’ve been watching the construction in this area for a WHILE and saw when rehearsals started, but the big news is that we finally have a reopening date for the nighttime spectacular at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Disney recently announced that the show would return in November of 2022 and it’s almost time to see the revamped version of the show.
Save the date! Fantasmic! is returning to Disney World on November 3rd, 2022 — we can’t wait!

This is one of the biggest experiences still missing from Disney World — but not for much longer!

The show will look a bit different from the last time you watched it. Disney announced that an entire segment of the show will be replaced when it comes back, so there’s a big opportunity to have new animation, characters, songs, and stunt performers! Disney said that the new show sequence will have characters like Elsa, Moana, Pocahontas, Aladdin, and Mulan.
It’s coming back!
Disney Live Entertainment Show Director, Matthew Hamel, shared that within this new sequence, we’ll get to “go on a journey with our heroes.” The heroes will be faced with a decision and will have to find the strength within to “push through in a truly spectacular way.”
The new sequence will have an Aladdin chase scene with brand NEW stunts, a “powerful scene” with Elsa featuring the song “Show Yourself,” and moments with Moana, Pocahontas, and Mulan.
Disney actually brought in Mimi Chan — the original muse and model that was used by animators as inspiration when bringing the character of Mulan to life — to help choreograph part of the new segment.
Fantasmic! is coming back
The Fantasmic! website notes that the show will also feature characters from Frozen 2, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, and The Lion King.
Disney also announced that there will be some new tech, which could explain some of the construction we’ve been watching — take a look at that here!
Disney has shared that they’ve taken this time to upgrade the lighting, sound, and lasers used in the show to really make it better than ever.

Disney Cast Members will be among the first to see the new show with special previews. If you’re a Cast Member, be sure to stay tuned for updates on that.
