Aloha everybody! Today we are headed to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort!
Disney World is constantly changing. From recent price increases to returning buffets to construction, there’s probably going to be something new the next time you’re in Disney World. Now, another Disney World staple has changed!
As of October 30th at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, one of their staple dining options finally reopened! Kona Cafe closed back in August for renovations to the restaurant and the menu. We previously got a sneak peek at some of the changes made to the restaurant, and although it was set to reopen on November 1st, it opened early — as in TODAY. Here’s what it looked like BEFORE the changes:
Here’s what Kona Cafe looks like now! The entrance is completely different and the fencing around the area has changed. You’ll also notice there are entirely new lighting fixtures!
First, we spoke with Cast Members who told us today’s early opening was meant to be a special surprise for guests and they hope to continue with lunch and dinner today. However, there is no guarantee of continuous service between now and Tuesday, which is the official reopening date.
On Tuesday, though, the restaurant will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. Right now, note that the restaurant is not taking reservations — it’s walk-ins only.
The restaurant even got new menus! Here’s the front of the breakfast menu:
Don’t worry — the favorites are still on there, including that Tonga Toast we ALL know and love, along with other breakfast items and beverages. They’ve also added a Spice-Rubbed Salmon Plate, a Ham & Cheese Omelet, and French Toast!
The lunch menu looks like this:
Lunch also hasn’t changed much: you can still get sushi, poke bowls, burgers, and other entrees. We noticed the Crispy Cheddar Burger is no longer on the menu, but the Big Kahuna Burger has taken its spot!
Here’s what the dinner menu looks like now:
The dinner menu also features a variety of appetizers, sushi rolls, and other items. There are a few changes to the entrees with the addition of Sautéed Red Quinoa and Verlasso Salmon.
This location is one we really enjoy so we’re super excited to see it back open!

Have enjoyed both breakfast and dinner there on more than one occasion. The food has always been good but is very limited

Hi team – I have been preparing for my WDW trip this coming week for months and watched like ALL of your videos (and bought one of your adorable Christmas shirts to wear to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party next Friday!) So first, huge thanks. You all are amazing. Oh, I even forced some off my fellow vacationers to watch a couple videos including the one on the bars and lounges, wanna try to hit a few of those up!! Now, though, I did want to ask a question.. I have a Kona Cafe reservation for this coming Sunday (gonna do a little monorail hopping and maybe some beach fireworks, might have to get that pumpkin roll from GF, before our trip really starts on Monday!) Have you all made it to Kona Cafe yet, any standouts on the menu upon reopening?

Hi Danielle! Apologies for the late response, but our reporter who most recently went to Kona Café said the Tonga Toast with the strawberry compote was the standout. “It was like dessert for breakfast and paired nicely with the bacon. the other dishes i treid were the French toast and the ham and cheese omelet and I honestly couldn’t recommend those as they were pretty average.”
