Greetings from Christmas at Disney World!
We’ve been making our way around Magic Kingdom, and now we think it’s time for a snack or two. Come with us to try two new treats you’ll only find during the holidays!
Come with us to Golden Oak Outpost in Frontierland to see what they’ve got on the menu! They’re serving up not one, but two new snacks we can’t wait to try — starting with the Fried Pork Tamale served Christmas Style for $9.99. This is a fried pork tamale topped with red and green chile sauces and queso fresco.
Are you wondering what “Christmas Style” is? When it comes to southwest cuisine, there are usually two camps of thought: Team Red Chile and Team Green Chile. Red chile is usually a smoother, smoky sauce that packs a slow-burn heat that starts its heat at the back of the throat, and works great on pork and beef dishes. Green chile is direct, on-the-tip of your tongue heat. It has a crisp roasted heat that you feel as soon as you put it in your mouth, and is perfect on chicken and pork dishes. If you love them both (and are in the know), you order your items “Christmas Style” meaning you want both red and green chile.
If you like spice, the red and green chile sauce is great. The pork is flavorful, and the flakiness of the crust pairs well. The size was small for the price. There wasn’t a lot of pork filling, either (more dough than pork). If you ordered this tamale for the masa crust, you might enjoy it, but ultimately for the price, the size was just disappointing.

And to wash it down, you can grab the Chai Caramel Freeze for $7.99. Dear Disney, you had us at “salted caramel freeze with chai spiced whipped cream.” But how does it taste?
On those warmer days in Orlando, when it doesn’t quite feel like a “white Christmas,” this is a great option to get those seasonal flavors in a cool and refreshing beverage!

The buttery caramel is STRONG, and is the bold and most dominant flavor. This is a “freeze” and has the consistency of a Frappuccino or a shake. The whipped cream was light and fluffy with the gentle whisper of chai spices.
And let’s take a moment to dissect this treat. The name can be a bit misleading. This is a caramel freeze with chai-flavored whipped cream. So, when you look at it that way, then you fully expect caramel to be the main and dominant flavor. It’s very intense and SUPER sweet. If you’re not into sweets, you might wanna share this beauty. Even if you do have a strong sweet tooth, you might wanna pace yourself with this one while you eat so many other sweet treats around the park.
Head on over to Golden Oak Outpost to grab the pork tamale and chai caramel freeze! Tickets for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party are still available but could sell out, so grab yours now if you still want to attend. We’ll be bringing you even more snack reviews and live coverage from the party, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB!
