There are so many holiday traditions that we all love and cherish, and Disney has a unique way of putting its own special twist on those traditions.
Gingerbread is one of those iconic holiday treats, and Disney World’s popular life-size Gingerbread House is one of those iconic spots during the holidays. We love watching its construction, breathing in the gingerbread-scented air, and of course, buying gingerbread treats from its little store window.
We truly love the miracle of watching the giant gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa go from this blank canvas…
To this ornate mini-mansion made completely out of sweets!
The Gingerbread House opens on Wednesday, November 9th, and now we’ve got a look at the menu board and prices of the treats that will be served in this iconic holiday setting!

Let’s tour around this gingerbread masterpiece, and we’ll point out some of our favorite details! The EARidescent colors of Disney World’s 50th Celebration made their way into the design, with blue and gold accents everywhere, including a lot of blue plants around the house.
First thing we noticed was the windows and the different characters you can spot at each one. This one has Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen (in his froggy form)!
We also spotted Anna, Elsa and Olaf…
…Belle and the Beast…
…even Chip and Dale!
There are many other windows, so make the time to stop and take in all of the details and spot all of the characters!! While you’re checking out the window, take a look at this detailed ornament hung in the gables of the house.
We also love exploring the little scenes and characters set up throughout the display, like this doorway with a snowman and toy soldier greeter.
Around the porch is a nutcracker with his woodsman friend.
You’ll spot similar santa-like characters in different spots around the house…
We even saw him in a red coat looking quite Santa-esque near the door!
But they’re no mistaking the real Santa at this display!
Even donning a blue coat instead of red, there’s no mistaking him! He must’ve gotten the memo from Mickey that during the 50th Celebration, everything is BLUE.
There are so many details to take in, and we love snowy Christmas village!
Here’s another look at the construction.

Around the back of the house is the shop where you can purchase your holiday treats (complete with 50th celebration welcome mat!).
With so many festive offerings, it’ll be hard to choose, and you may have to come back a few times to try them all!
And while you nibble on your very own gingerbread shingle, you can read about all of the work and skill that goes into crafting this holiday centerpiece every year!
The Grand Floridian Gingerbread House will be selling its treats starting on November 9th.

I have been going to this attraction at Disney for over 30 years, every year, have not missed one, to get my daughter a Gingerbread Shingle from the GF. I would love to sit in the grand lobby and listen to the orchestra while my wife perused the shops. Then it was off to Gasparilla Snack Bar for some hot chocolate and a viewing of the MK fireworks. Great fun, awesome experience. I still do not know why they do not put in a 2nd service window to accommodate the crush of guests during the holidays. The lines can be brutal at peak times

How can I purchase the gingerbread shingles online? I would like to purchase at least five shingles.
DFB Gigi says
Hi James! I am not aware of any way to purchase the gingerbread shingles online, unfortunately.

Very informative article! For those wanting to see the gingerbread house display, is parking allowed at the Grand Floridian? I believe parking at Disney resorts is only allowed for overnight guests and those with dining reservations. Thanks for your reply.
Wendy says
Hi, Stan! We’ve had different experiences parking at a hotel to visit without being an overnight guest or having dining reservations. In VERY busy seasons (like the week between Christmas and New Year’s, and around Spring Break or other holiday weekends), often a sign will be posted in front of the parking security check in stating that they are only allowing guests with dining reservations/overnight guests to park at the Resort. In less busy times, we’ve often been welcome to park, but it’s never guaranteed — possibly depending on how busy the Resort is. I would say it’s certainly worth asking if you don’t see a sign posted, but perhaps consider having a backup plan using Disney transportation if by chance they can’t accommodate extra guests in the parking lot. I hope that helps!

Hi, and thanks for this great info! Has anyone tried using their Passholder discount at these Gingerbread events? I didn’t ask when I went ver the weekend because I figured it was considered quick service, but I checked my card this morning and it fell under the “WDD Merchandise” category. Just curious…
