Disney’s recent change in CEO from Bob Chapek to Bob Iger has been the subject of many a tweet recently.
Several celebrities, including Josh Gad (voice of Olaf in Frozen), Matt Martin (Sr. Creative Executive of Lucasfilm), and Tom K. Morris (Former Walt Disney Imagineer) commented on Bob Iger’s return, mainly in favor of the change in leadership. Former Disney CEO Michael Eisner sent a simple message on the day after Iger returned, saying “Welcome back to Disney, @RobertIger!” Now, Eisner has commented once again on the change.
Michael Eisner tweeted out this message today: “The Walt Disney Company has suffered in recent years. This is a good time for us to remember the words of Walt Disney who said, ‘Everybody falls down. Getting back up is how you learn to walk.’”

Although Eisner didn’t specify what struggles Disney has been experiencing or how the company is now “getting back up,” the timing of the tweet seems to suggest it has to do with the change in leadership from Bob Chapek to Bob Iger.
Among Disney Parks fans, Chapek was largely an unpopular CEO as his time in the position saw several changes that were met with disapproval. The shift from the free FastPass+ to the paid Genie+ system, the introduction of Park Pass Reservations, and the removal of Magical Express are just a few of the changes that led some Disney fans to call for his exit.
However, The Walt Disney Company’s struggles cannot all be attributed to Chapek, as the company has also worked to navigate and recover from losses due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. Disney has also been in the midst of a streaming war with its relatively young service, Disney+, and investors are calling for the platform to become profitable soon.
Whether Eisner was referring to Bob Chapek or just the difficulty of the last few years in general, it’s clear that he expects Iger to be the solution to Disney’s woes. Many fans feel the same way and expect big changes to come from Iger’s return.

For the streaming, I would love to see Disney dip into the vault for more of their live action movies from the 60’s and 70s. That was one of the reasons I wanted the service to begin with.

Please Please Please team up Eisner and Iger

Not sure Disney can return to its former glory. The elimination of Fast Pass, annual passes and other little benefits here and there were things that made people willing to spend a lot of money. Now it just seems like they want to squeeze every dollar out of people and made things more complicated. I have a Disney Visa card and will be using the money on it to make one last trip to Disney. They’ve outprice me from a vacation there with my kids. As a single mother we had a lot of memories at Disney but we can’t afford it. So sad.

It’s such a relief to have Chapek out and Iger back. Literally, a relief.

I wish people would stop using COVID-19 losses to justify a company’s situation. We all had COVID losses, just like Disney. No, I didn’t lose a bazillion dollars but I also didn’t start out with a hundred bazillion. We all went through the same thing and we will continue to go through the same things.

All Chapek has done has raised prices..,added new charges (Genie+)…make it impossible to spontaneously visit the parks (park pass reservations, the biggest lie: it was supposed to control crowding for COVID, now they say it’s to prevent crowding although you still can’t get into MK without feeling like a sardine)…remove services (bus service from airport)…
Not to mention the slowest, worst, most inconvenient renovation and new construction planning on EARTH.
THREE OR MORE YEARS WITHOUT THE RAILROAD!? HOW IS ONE, ESPECIALLY THOSE OLDER FOLKS OR MOBILITY CHALLENGED, SUPPOSED TO NAVIGATE A DAY AT MK!?
As a Florida resident and almost 30-year park visitor, every year, I would have to be out of my mind to ever go back. There would be something seriously wrong with me if I did.
Ron says
Mr Eisner, my family and I were going to Disney World when you were CEO and when Mr. Iger was CEO the first time. Each trip, we went to every park and went on every ride. There were crowds but not inconvenient. The price of everything we all felt to be reasonable. Disney has tried to create a problem that doe not need a solution. Certainly not continuous price increases. Disney is not the only company affected financially by the Pandemic. A million people lost their lives, many millions lost their jobs, homes, savings and retirement. BUT NOT YOU DISNEY . YOU MADE IT ALL BACK IN TWO YEARS AND NOW YOU WANT THE PARKS TO BE AN ATM MACHINE FOR A FAILING STREAMING SERVICE.
Carolyn says
Disney+ is failing because “LACK OF CONTENT”. Yes, open the vault!!!! I would love to see Walt Disney introducing shows and giving updates of his dream, Haley Mills, Boone, Crocket and more. I grew up with Disney.

I agree with the comments that Disney makes customers feel that it is out to fleece its patrons. Also, the change in Disney culture moving away from its emphasis on wholesome family values to embracing and celebrating the woke left is off putting to millions of families who are uncomfortable exposing their children to an environment that they find objectionable. Disney should keep its political agenda in its pocket and go back to the basics of supporting and celebrating traditional family values that has made it so successful in the past.
Stafon says
Michael Eisner should really be the new ceo. He would bring back the Disney we used to love.
