If you’ve been to EPCOT recently, you’ve probably noticed the temporary walls blocking off a rather large construction zone in the center of the park.
EPCOT is going through a historic transformation that has brought new neighborhoods already and will include a new festival center and a brand new attraction — Journey of Water: Inspired by Moana. We’ve been keeping up with the latest construction updates from Journey of Water, and now a HUGE part of the attraction has been installed — let’s check it out!
Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana is slated to open in EPCOT in late 2023! This upcoming attraction is a walk-through experience where guests will be able to enjoy experiences that are all about water. We’re expecting to see playful fountains, lots of waterfalls, and more.
But, one of the most exciting parts of this attraction is the massive Te Fiti sculpture that Disney unveiled at the 2022 D23 Expo. We got to see a sneak peek of what the figure would look like when we were at the Expo…
…and now, Te Fiti has officially arrived at EPCOT! Walt Disney Imagineering shared this image on Instagram, but you know we had to check her out for ourselves.
We headed over to the attraction and could see her peeking above the fence…
…but then we hopped on the monorail to get a better look, and here she is in all her glory! We can’t wait to see even more details added as Disney gets closer to completing the immersive new attraction.
We’re so excited to see this huge milestone be reached in this attraction’s construction progress. Journey of Water will open in late 2023 so we’ve still got a ways to go, but this is a step in the right direction! We’ll continue to monitor the construction project and let you know of any updates.

This is hideous. So sad to see this is was Epcot did with a large amount of empty space. It will just be a walkway to the never-ending festival booths and does nothing to decrease wait times at other attractions. Epcot needs more attractions, especially now that the proposed Play pavilion has been scrapped for now to spread out guests throughout the park. They already had jumping water in the past at the Imagination pavilion. Hope there’s more to this, but I doubt it.
