We’re taking you to a newly refurbished restaurant at Disney’s Aulani Resort in Hawai’i!
The signature ‘AMA ‘AMA restaurant at Aulani recently got a major makeover that includes updates to the decor and some menu changes. Come with us to see inside and find out if you should visit this spot during your upcoming vacation.
We’ve been to this spot before, but ‘AMA ‘AMA recently reopened at Aulani after some refurbishments, and we visited again to find out if the changes make this location worth a trip.
This restaurant is named after a mullet fish that’s native to Hawai’i, and it was originally meant to look like a fishing shack from the 1890s. Although the interior looks fresh and updated, that theme is still prevalent throughout the dining room.
There are tables and chairs as well as some booths for seating.
With bright decor and lots of nods to the outdoors (plants, natural colors, and open spaces), this restaurant is a blend of upscale luxury and ocean vibes.
And you can stop by the outdoor pond to check out the fish!
The views from ‘AMA ‘AMA haven’t changed at all — they’re still immaculate.
Dinner at ‘AMA ‘AMA costs $125 for each adult and $55 for kids, and the adult menu is 4 courses. During our trip, the service was incredible — we felt like we were treated like royalty. Although the price is high, the service and atmosphere live up to that cost. And so does the food! We started with an amuse-bouche called “Thanksgiving Leftovers.” This snack is panko-crusted turkey with cranberry sauce, and we thought it was delicious.
Our starter was the Waipoli Greens salad, which is made with shaved vegetables, hearts of palm, basil seed, avocado, citrus, and a green goddess dressing. It was an incredibly light, refreshing salad.
Our server then brought out a bread service!
There were 3 kinds of house-baked breads, including lavash, seeded, and sourdough. That sourdough was some of the best we’ve ever had!
And there’s sea salt butter to go with the bread.
We tried out the Ahi for the appetizer, which was made with Limu, Maui sweet onion, cucumber, uni, Ikura, and spicy greens.
This dish was also very tasty, and we loved the chopsticks that came with them. Do you see the cute little Mickey rest that pops off the top of the chopsticks? Our server told us that these were invented by a woman who was turned down by SharkTank but ended up starting her business anyway and now works with clients like Disney and Four Seasons.
We had Paniolo Kobe Ribeye for our entrée, which is made with the meat, shishito chimi, shallot and mushroom, fondant potato, tomato, and demi.
We also tried the plant-based coconut curry, which was delicious! This dish is made with jackfruit, apple banana, squash, beets, and black sesame.
Our meal finished with one of each of the desserts. The Chocolate Mousse is made with milk chocolate macadamia nut crunch, cinnamon whipped cream, and a Kona coffee anglaise.
The Citrus Bar includes Liliko’i ganache, white chocolate-pistachio crunch, Kalamansi curd, and a gingersnap tuile.
The last dessert was Coconut Flan, which is a tres leches cake with dulce de leche meringue, coconut shortbread, and fresh mango. All of the desserts were presented beautifully and tasted rich and delicious.
After dessert, you can opt for a cup of coffee or tea, but we called it quits and were brought some dark chocolate caramels and peppermint-scented washcloths.
The whole experience felt luxurious, and we really enjoyed everything we ate. However, keep in mind that the meal takes about 2.5 hours, so plan accordingly!

I just went a month ago & did not enjoy this menu at all. I am not a picky person at all but the whole experience was not worth the money. I was completely dissatisfied & they knew it. They tried to make up for it but at that price, the only thing that would have made it good for me was to not charge me. I would have even been satisfied with 1/2 off!
I will not waste my money on a prix fix menu again…

We went a few days ago and loved it! I actually feel the Red at autant is under priced. The food was terrific, as was the service. The view is outstanding. So beautiful- a memorable, lovely experience.
