It’s no secret that Disney World is going through some serious changes.
EPCOT is being transformed, Magic Kingdom is getting a new attraction, and several Disney Resort hotels are undergoing renovations — including the Grand Floridian. We’ve already seen some updates to the DVC villas and other areas, but now we know about even more updates coming to the Grand Flo!
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is celebrating its 30th anniversary on July 1st, 2023! And, it’s getting a bit of a sprucing up for its birthday, too. We’ve seen Citricos open with a gorgeous new theme, and several of the rooms have been renovated including the DVC villas in the Big Pine Key Building.
But, Disney just announced that as part of these ongoing renovations, the Grand Floridian lobby will be undergoing a refurbishment!
Disney said that the new look “will maintain the classic theming [guests] know and love with some fresh new enhancements.” Will we see a similar Mary Poppins Returns theme as the popular Citricos? Or even more Poppins theming like the new DVC rooms?
It could happen, especially since Disney shared that this update is part of the ongoing renovations — but we’ll have to wait and see!
So far, we don’t have a start or end date for when these refurbishments might begin, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for more information from Disney.

I would like the Grand Floridian to bring back their live orchestra. It wasn’t a huge philharmonic or anything, but it was unique and very classy, befitting Disney’s premier hotel at Disney World. Speaking of class, remember when gentlemen had to wear a suit, suit coat or blazer in the lobby of the Grand after 5 p.m.?

Bring back the the orchestra ! They really set the vibe and are missed.
