When it comes to food, we’ll be the first to say that Disney World constantly delivers.
Sure, there are snacks we’re sick of (all that blue frosting on the 50th anniversary, y’all), snacks that got a downgrade, and some that just really aren’t our jam. But sometimes there are things we get promised that don’t quite turn out the way they’re supposed to. Today is one of those times.
We just visited Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe to check out some new menu items, because NEW food, right? One of those items was a brand new Slush, the Sully Slush, which is a Blue Raspberry Slush with purple Whipped Cream. What makes it so cool is that it looks like Sully’s fur, like this
Except what we got did NOT look like that. This is what we got:
Yes, we ordered the Sully slush, but what we ended up getting tasted a lot like the Blue Raspberry Slush you can get just about anywhere. There’s no purple whipped cream in it! It doesn’t even look like it’s supposed to! We mean, it tastes okay, and this would please any kiddos in need of some sugar. But we wonder what happened here… .
We spoke with a Cast Member who confirmed they did not have the purple whipped cream in stock yet. We asked when it might be available but the Cast Member was not sure. We’ll keep an eye out for the purple whipped cream!
We also tried out some new food here, though. The Grilled Chicken Sandwich, which is a Grilled Chicken Sandwich with Citrus-Soy Mayonnaise and Mango-Cucumber Slaw on Brioche Bun served with French Fries for $12.59.
Okay, so the sandwich is messy and the chicken is a little mushy, but overall, the flavors are SOLID — and that surprised us.
The mango cucumber slaw also adds some nice flavor and texture as well as some sweetness. We’ll say we think this is a pretty solid chicken sandwich.
We also tried the Sweet-and-Sour Shrimp Salad, which is made with Mixed Greens Salad topped with Shrimp, Pineapple, Peppers, and Crispy Noodles served with Sweet-and-Sour Dressing for $12.59. Y’all, this salad was GOOD. It’s got the perfect amount of dressing so that every bite gets that flavor. It’s sweet and tangy with a nice crunch from the crispy noodles.
So if you do want to try out these new items, you might want to skip the slush until whatever issue is going on with it is worked out. However, the two new food items are worth a visit to Tomorrowland if you’re looking for fast, yet delicious options for lunch or dinner.
