We’re just a few days away from Christmas, and Disney World is STILL rolling out the holiday snacks!
We’ve been trying a lot of seasonal treats over the past few months, but now we’ve got a few more to check out in this last round before the big day. So now, we’re heading over to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort to pick up a fan fave — Dole whip!
Right now at Pineapple Lanai, you can snag the ‘Olu Mel Christmas Float. But you’ll have to be FAST — this seasonal treat is only available until December 31st! So if you spot it while you’re there, you’ll be among the lucky few who get to try it.
We saw this float during the holidays last year, and now it’s back! It’s made with DOLE Whip Lime, pineapple juice, an ‘Olu Mel white chocolate medallion, and strawberry popping candy. Sounds yummy! You can get it for $6.49.
Of course, we had to get one to try it out and see how it compares to last year’s version. We thought that this float might’ve been better as just a Dole Whip because the drink part is just okay — it’s VERY sweet. However, if you mix the drink up with the Dole Whip, then it’s WAY better. The tart lime complements the sweet juice pretty well. This is VERY refreshing with classic lime flavors.
We also loved the popping candies (they made for a fun texture that we think kids especially will enjoy), plus the medallion with ‘Olu Mel on it is too cute — those elements make this one a lot of fun. It’s a great end-of-the-year treat, and although Florida is pretty chilly right now, this float makes us feel like we’re vacationing in a tropical oasis, maybe somewhere like Disney’s Aulani Resort? Hey, we can dream!
Even though we enjoyed this treat, we think the tart lime Dole whip and popping candies make this one a little more controversial than some other treats in Disney World. If you love lime and want a more adventurous snack, give it a try! But if you want a safer option, check out the Tropical Serenade Dole Whip at Aloha Isle in Magic Kingdom.
