A brand NEW restaurant is coming to Disney World in 2023, and we’ve got a big update on it right here!
Disney’s BoardWalk has been undergoing a bunch of changes and more are set to take place soon. BoardWalk Deli replaced BoardWalk Bakery, a new coffee shop is now open, the lounge got an updated look, the lobby and rooms are supposed to get refreshed too, and (perhaps most importantly for those who love sweets) the NEW Cake Bake Shop is set to open on the BoardWalk in 2023. We’ve been keeping an eye on the construction progress at that particular spot and now we’ve got an update!
The Cake Bake Shop will take over the former ESPN Club and some big changes are already underway. When we passed by on December 30th, we could see that part of the upper structure to the left-hand side of the restaurant (if you’re facing it head-on) has been partially demolished.
Whoa! Talk about changes! We’ve got demo work being done at the future site of The Cake Bake Shop! 🍰 pic.twitter.com/oGfLBm5nPM

Even the roof had been taken apart as part of the construction efforts.
Here’s a closer look at some of the demolition.
Looks like things are really moving along.
This structure used to be home to some sports-related signs, but it looks like it’s getting a refurbishment with the Cake Bake Shop taking over.
The concept art for the Cake Bake Shop shows that upper structure still in place with an added detail on the top, and what appear to be windows in that upper area.
We anticipate this work is being done to make that concept a reality. You can see other work (mainly demolition) appears to be in progress at this spot.
Thus far, Disney and The Cake Bake Shop have revealed that the new restaurant will have a table service option, a bakery with quick items you can get to go, a savory menu, a sweet menu, and a tea service.
It is set to open in 2023, but no exact opening date has been announced yet. We’ll continue to keep an eye out for updates and let you know what we find. Maybe Disney has gotten the message that no one goes to Disney World for the NBA Experience or to hang around the ESPN Club.

That’s funny there was a line out the door of people waiting to get in to eat on a regular basis, someone should have told them that no one does that.

1.) We’re locals and go to EPCOT fairly regularly. We’ve never seen these alleged lines out the door at ESPN Club
2.) If ESPN Club is so popular, why did Disney close it, in order to make it into a bakery?
