Disney vacations are expensive, and they’re not getting any cheaper.
While you can plan your trip around the cheapest days to visit, there are still other factors that will affect how much your vacation will cost you, and this time it doesn’t have anything to do with Disney raising ticket prices.
Planning on driving to Disney World with your family this year? According to Fox 35 Orlando, gas prices are going to fluctuate quite a bit in the next 12 months. While the year’s national average is projected to be $3.49 a gallon (down from the $3.96 a gallon average last year), “the national average could breach $4 a gallon as early as May” and could last through much of summer, says Patrick De Haan of GasBuddy.
In Orlando, gas prices are expected to peak at an average of $4.15 to $4.55 per gallon this summer. Currently, the average price per gallon of regular unleaded gas in Florida is $3.12. However, gas prices will likely fluctuate a lot this year.
According to GasBuddy’s report, the price of gas nationally could reach lower than $3 a gallon in February, hit $3.99 in June, and drop as the year ends.
While the forecast isn’t accounting for “a severe recession,” world events such as China easing COVID-19 mandates, Russia’s war in Ukraine, and weather-related pipeline shutdowns could all affect the cost of gas this year.
While these are just projections and might not reflect actual prices throughout the year, this might help you save some money when you plan for your next Disney trip. It sounds like February will be one of the best times to drive, while the summer months will be more expensive.
You may want to consider booking a flight to Disney World instead of flying, although watch out for delays and cancelations that might affect your trip. Essentially, any form of transportation comes with its risks!
