It might seem like there is ALWAYS something under construction in Disney World, and that’s often the case!
EPCOT is still undergoing its massive transformation (with a new attraction on the way), a new roller coaster will be opening soon in Magic Kingdom, and Disney World hotels are getting loads of updates. Speaking of which, we’re going to go check up on construction at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, so let’s see what’s going on there, shall we?
As you may know, new Disney Vacation Club villas are going up at the resort. During our last update, we noticed that there were a lot of mounds of dirt forming around the site. Well, this time around, we’ve noticed new equipment at the site, including a new crane.
Much of the area has now been cleared, but when we visited, there was some standing water pooling in various areas (probably from all the rain).
However, more equipment has been moved in and it looks like construction has started on what could be the foundation of the new building!
Meanwhile, over at the Lava Pool, the slide is currently closed for refurbishment. Note that the pool itself remains open, so if you’re staying at the resort, you will still be able to swim there. The slide is set to reopen in early February.
So that’s the latest update on what’s going on with the construction at the Polynesian — we’ll continue to keep an eye on progress and let you know what we see, so stay tuned to DFB for more!

Hi there! I have booked the Polynesian for Halloween and so excited!! It was our first time this past Christmas and Im hooked! Is the construction too loud? I booked this to make it feel like a retreat but if I’m hearing construction that will suck.
