Did you ever wish you could go to a horror-themed destination all year long (and not just around Halloween)? Ever wished that experience was in Las Vegas? Well, your dreams are about to come true!
Universal Parks & Resorts has announced that they are building a NEW theme park experience in Frisco, Texas that is aimed at families with younger kids. But the adults aren’t being left out of the future fun — they’ll just have to head to a different location!
According to Bloomberg, Universal Parks & Resorts has announced its plans to create a “year-round, horror-focused destination in Las Vegas.”
Mark Woodbury, the chairman of Universal’s resorts unit, shared “Horror is not just for Halloween anymore at Universal.”
In an Instagram post, Universal shared more about this project. According to their announcement, the experience will be NEW and permanent and it will “bring to life Universal’s vast library of classic horror films and today’s most terrifying tales.”
There will be a variety of immersive horror-centric experiences as well as “high energy food and beverage spaces by day turned haunting bars and eateries by night.”
Bloomberg reports that the experience will take up a space that is approximately 110,000 square feet. It will serve as the “anchor tenant” in an expansion of Area15 — an entertainment district that opened in 2020.
This spot already includes themed restaurants and an immersive art experience called Meow Wolf’s Omega Mart.
For years, Universal has offered its Halloween Horror Nights events as a seasonal offering. And now it seems like they’re looking to capitalize on the spooky vibes and bring some horror to a new location.
Content from Universal’s historical and upcoming films are set to be featured in the Las Vegas experience. But not very many other details have been shared at this point in time.
We’ll keep an eye out for updates and let you know what we find.
