Before reading this post, you must be ⚠️ WARNED. ⚠️
The 2023 Festival of the Arts has officially begun and we’re experiencing it ALL so we can share the latest & greatest details with you. But as you read this post and see all of the amazing art you’ll be able to check out at the Festival, get a peek at the mouth-watering food, and admire all of the Festival merchandise, you may find yourself booking a Disney World trip without even realizing it! So, basically, read this at your own risk! 🤣
Festival Dates
The 2023 Festival of the Arts will only run from January 13th, 2023 through February 20th, 2023. It’s definitely on the shorter end when it comes to EPCOT Festivals, so don’t wait too long to come and visit!
See our full page on the Festival here!
Getting Started and Crowds
We started our morning BRIGHT and early in EPCOT — okay, maybe not so bright. It was pretty cloudy and raining when we showed up to the park. It doesn’t look like that stopped any of the crowds, though!
Ah! There’s the organized crowd! pic.twitter.com/cBUnypiMnm
— Disney Food Blog (@DisneyFoodBlog) January 13, 2023
If you want to be one of the first people in the park to grab that Festival-exclusive merchandise, pick up a Festival map, and snap some great photos with the Festival signs, it’s important that you arrive early!
Crowds were huddled under Spaceship Earth as they made their way into EPCOT.
Inside Creations, people were gathered looking for exclusive festival merchandise — and maybe hiding from the rain. We’ve seen a few sneak peeks of the merch — you can check it out here.
Now that the Festival of the Arts is finally here, we’ll be keeping an eye on the crowds throughout the day so you know what to expect!
Click here for a full look at what Disney World crowds are like in January
Festival Booklet
Just as you’ll find with other Festivals, the Festival of the Arts has its own unique Passport/booklet.
If you’re all about turning off your phone as much as possible when on vacation, then picking up this booklet will be great for you.
It contains all of the Festival menus in it and other Festival information.
Plus, it’ll be your key to collecting your FREE prize if you complete the Festival of the Arts food challenge (more on that later!).
Take a FULL look at the Festival Passport here!
Signs and Decor
As you enter EPCOT from the front entrance (remember you could enter back through the International Gateway too) you’ll find signs and decor featuring the many colors of the rainbow with a certain purple dragon playing a prominent role — it’s FIGMENT!
You’ll find rainbows and paint-themed decorations abound at the front of the park, creating the perfect spot to snap a selfie with the family and friends before eating your way through the park!
Throughout EPCOT, keep an eye out for other Festival of the Arts signs!
You’ll also want to look for banners and other pieces of decor.
PRO TIP! Check out the little train village near the Germany pavilion. The town there changes out their mini flags to correspond with the EPCOT Festival going on at that time — it’s a special hidden detail you can show off to your friends!
Now, let’s get into the 3 arts that form the core of the Festival — Performing Arts, Visual Arts, and Culinary Arts!
Performing Arts
In terms of the performing arts, one of the main things you’ll find is the Disney on Broadway Concert Series. The series brings Disney on Broadway performers to the America Gardens Theatre in EPCOT, where you can hear them sing amazing Disney on Broadway songs for FREE! Performances take place at 5:30PM, 6:45PM, and 8PM on each night.
Want to make sure you get a good seat? You can reserve a Disney on Broadway Dining Package that’ll give you reserved seating and the ability to eat at some of EPCOT’s most popular restaurants.
Aside from that, you’ll find musical performances in World Showcase Plaza on select days, Visual Art in Performance (where you can watch an artist paint a Disney character LIVE on stage in a matter of minutes), and Art Defying Gravity (where you can see some thrilling acrobatic acts)!
Check out ALL of the entertainment confirmed for the Festival here
Visual Arts
More of a visual arts person? There’s plenty of that too!
Figment Scavenger Hunt
If you want an interactive art experience, participate in Figment’s Brush with the Masters. This is a special scavenger hunt where you’ll search for hidden Figments in artwork scattered throughout the World Showcase Pavilions.
Finish the scavenger hunt, and you can return your map to get a prize!
The experience costs $9.99 — get your map at Creations Shop, Port of Entry, or World Traveler.
See more details about this scavenger hunt here!
Paint by Numbers
At the Festival, you’ll also find the Expression Section: A Paint by Numbers Mural. You can pick up a brush to paint a few squares in your assigned color.
Then keep watching as the mural gets filled in and the piece of art comes together thanks to YOUR help!
Chalk Art
You’ll also find some INCREDIBLE chalk art at the Festival at the Chalk Art Galleries in World Showcase Plaza. Keep a close eye on these as they get developed throughout the day — some may even have 3D effects!
Plus, kiddos can create chalk art masterpieces of their own in the bridge to World Showcase Plaza, or you can hunt for Chalk Drawings of Disney characters around World Showplace as part of the “Chalk Full of Characters” experience.

Art
In terms of more “traditional” art, you’ll find all kinds of vendors selling unique pieces themed to Disney and more that you might just HAVE to bring home with you!

Photo Ops
Throughout the park you’ll also find Artful Photo Ops you can step into that’ll put you INTO the art!
Here’s a full list of the step-in frames:

Spaceship Earth Lights!
Be sure to stick around until it gets dark so you can see the unique way that Spaceship Earth gets lit up during the Festival.
While the Spaceship Earth lights are beautiful every night, during the Festival you’ll get to catch a special light performance that includes the “One Little Spark” song!
Get a peek at these lights here!
And check out all the entertainment at this year’s festival here!
Festival Merchandise
In terms of Festival merchandise, there’s PLENTY to pick from, including a Figment-themed spirit jersey…

…and even a Figment Munchling! How cute is he?!

We’re checking out ALL the exclusive merchandise available on the opening day of the fest — you can see it all at the link below.
Check out ALL the festival merchandise here!
Figment Popcorn Bucket
And don’t forget that the incredibly popular Figment popcorn bucket is coming BACK this year!
Figment wrecked quite a bit of havoc last year, bringing long lines to EPCOT upon his initial release — but Disney has thought ahead this year. The Figment Popcorn Bucket is available on Mobile Order at Figment’s Inspiration Station at the Odyssey for $25!
But, that doesn’t mean there wasn’t still a line nearby waiting for this little purple dragon. And then by the afternoon, there were no more Mobile Order times available for today!
There’s a chance that more will become available now and Disney is using the mobile order feature to control demand, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Find out how to get a Figment Popcorn Bucket right here.
Culinary Arts
While the other arts might be wonderful, you’re probably hungry after admiring them for so long, so let’s enjoy those culinary arts!
At Connections Eatery, we spotted Cast Members making the Festival Liege Waffle! While we could agree that this waffle was very light and fluffy — some of our reporters found this to be a little overly sweet. See our full review here!

There are lots of food booths available this year, including two new ones, and several new eats. Let’s see what’s being offered at this year’s festival!
The Craftsman’s Courtyard
We stopped by this booth and started out with the Beef Wellington. This is made with Mushroom duxelles, prosciutto, and puff pastry with red wine demi-glace and baby vegetables.
And then we tried the Cast Iron-roasted P.E.I. Mussels with sautéed tomatoes, garlic, and fresh herbs.
There was a TON of flavor in this dish!
See our FULL review of The Craftsman’s Courtyard here.
Moderne
This is a NEW booth at this year’s fest, and we were super excited to check everything out. First up, we grabbed the Compressed Watermelon Tataki, which is made with pickled watermelon rind, yuzu pearls, watermelon foam, and wasabi.
We tried the Angry Crab, which is whole crispy soft-shell crab with green papaya salad, mango-sriracha fluid gel, and coconut-lime foam with pomegranate and mango crush pearls.
The Pan-seared Scallops with vanilla-butternut squash purée, brown butter cauliflower purée, and lime foam are part of the Wonderful Walk of Colorful Cuisine!
Finally, there’s The Tropics, which is made with Lilikoi mousse, guava cake, coconut crémeux, compressed pineapple, and mango gel.
The guava cake was the tartest part, and it was nice and moist, which we really loved!
Check out our FULL review of Moderne here!
Figment’s Inspiration Station at the Odyssey
Who but Figment could dream up Fruit Pizza? This dish is made with Watermelon, compressed cantaloupe, berries, and berry balsamic. This is pretty much what it looks like — a slice of watermelon with some stuff on top. We wanted more from the balsamic, but this might be a great option for plant-based eaters.
The Pop’t Art is which is a Sugar Cookie with blueberry filling, and we really enjoyed this! It wasn’t too sweet despite the fruity filling and the sugar cookie.
This Rainbow Cake with freeze-dried SKITTLES bite-sized candies was probably our favorite thing at this booth! It was incredibly moist and the freeze-dried skittles added a fun texture.
Say it with us: Grape. Smoothie. You definitely need to be a fan of artificial grape flavors to enjoy this, but we really liked it! This might be a Best of the Fest contender for kiddos.
And the best part? You get to keep a souvenir Figment cup!
Read our full review of Figment’s Imagination Station here.
Refreshment Port
Refreshment Port isn’t an official festival food booth at the festival, but it does have some special items on the menu, which typically involve some sort of poutine. This year, it was the returning Gnocchi Poutine with red wine-braised beef, cheese curds, basil, and burrata. This year, we thought the gnocchi pieces by themselves weren’t great (again), but when you take a bite with all of the different parts it was tasty.
Refreshment Port is also one of two spots guests can pick up the Artist Palette Jumbo Chocolate Chip Cookie. The cookie has been a returning option at the festivals for the past few years, and you can check out our last review of it here.
You can also get a specialty DOLE whip here! Get a Soft-serve Waffle Cone with DOLE Whip Strawberry, DOLE Whip Lemon, or swirl. We opted for the swirl and had no regrets.
We love any excuse to get a DOLE whip.
Read our full review of Refreshment Port here!
Gourmet Landscapes
We tried the Blood Orange-braised Beet Tartare. The dish features mustard vinaigrette, pickled clamshell mushrooms, and golden beets. Altogether the flavors blend really well, and the seeds give an element of spice. There’s a little bit of sweetness from the fruit which contrasts with the beets.
The next dish available here is the Roasted Bone Marrow with onion marmalade, pickled mushrooms, and petite lettuce. It’s surprisingly delicious and has a LOT of great flavor. Our favorite way to eat it is on top of the crouton bread because it adds a nice crunch.
The final dish here is the Wild Mushroom Risotto with aged Parmesan, truffle shavings, and zinfandel reduction. It’s easily the best thing here.
We definitely felt full after this risotto.
Read our full review of Gourmet Landscapes here.
El Artista Hambriento
Buckle up, folks — we’ve got a lot to talk about. We think this might be a contender for Best Booth of the Fest! There were 3 new food items, and all 3 knocked it out of the park — starting with the Carne Asada. This is made with Chipotle-marinated beef sirloin, sweet potato purée, and crispy-fried onions. As soon as we tasted this we knew — Best of the Fest. Who would have thought a festival booth could make meat so tender?!
The NEW Huarache de Champiñones features Guajillo chile and corn masa huarache with pinto beans, oyster mushrooms, Nopales, queso fresco, and pea tendrils. The flavors here are outstanding — the Guajillo chile is smoky and not too spicy, but it blends perfectly with the earthiness of the mushrooms.
We thought it couldn’t get any better, but we were WRONG. The NEW Flan de Coco is a Gluten/Wheat Friendly dish made with Coconut flan, guava sauce, and whipped cream. The coconut and guava flavors are the perfect combination.
Trust us, you’re going to want to visit this booth!
See our full review of El Artista Hambriento right here!
Painted Panda
First up, we grabbed General Tso’s Chicken Shumai. There was a slight kick from the chili glaze, as well as LOTS of meat. It’s semi-chewy, but not in a bad way. Basically, it’s a lovely little meaty dumpling and we were VERY pleased.
Next up is the Char Siu Pork Bun, which is pork and a tasty sauce on a bao bun. This dish was VERY yummy. The bun itself was wonderfully light and fluffy, while the pork was savory. There was really no kick of spice here, so don’t worry if you’re spice-averse.
It was a really tasty treat, and the sauce on the side really brought another layer of fantastic flavor!
Check out our full review of of The Painted Panda here.
Deconstructed Dish
We started things off with the Deconstructed BLT. This dish is made with Pork belly, soft-poached egg, onion bread pudding, watercress espuma, and tomato jam. The elements are yummy individually but all together, the flavors are spectacular!
Next, we move to the Deconstructed French Onion Soup. The dish is made with Beef broth ravioli, gruyère cream (in 2022 that was described as espuma instead of cream), onion bread pudding, and onion textures. It’s beautiful and creative, but also delicious. When you cut into the ravioli pocket it packs a punch full of flavor, especially onion. This is definitely one of the best things we’ve had at the fest this year!
Finally, the remaining dish is the Deconstructed Key Lime Pie. This was also new in 2022 and has returned in 2023. The dish is made with a Flexible Key lime curd, “Key lime” mousse, graham cracker cake, and meringues.
We know that we already raved about the other two things we ate here, but this one tops them ALL! Can we talk about how pretty that dessert is?!
Our FULL review of The Deconstructed Dish is right here!
Funnel Cakes
While this isn’t technically a festival booth, you can get a festival-exclusive Mini Funnel Cake, and this version is new to the festival this year. This mini funnel cake is topped with cappuccino ice cream, chocolate whipped cream, AND M&M’S chocolate candies.
We thought this dessert was delicious, but it is SWEET. The cappuccino ice cream had a nice espresso flavor to it that paired well with the sweetness of the M&Ms and chocolate whipped cream. This really reminded us of a cafe mocha! Definitely worth a try if you like coffee or mocha flavors!
Check out our full review of the funnel cake here.
L’Arte de Mangiare
First up at this booth, we tried the Ravioli ai Funghi, Perle Tartufate, which is wild mushroom-stuffed pasta with truffle butter and truffle pearls. This was very mushroom-forward with a strong truffle aftertaste. Probably not for mushroom haters or those averse to strong flavors.
Next, we grabbed the Mozzarella Fritta, which is flash-fried breaded fresh mozzarella with artist palette condiments. This was SUCH a fun create-your-own sort of art project. The presentation was so creative, but it was kind of expensive for what you get!
For dessert, we grabbed the Budino al Cioccolato, which is chocolate pudding with colorful chocolate décor. Well, we don’t really know what we were expecting, but this tasted like chocolate pudding.
We think Billy Madison might like this booth, though.

Pop Eats
NEW to the Pop Eats booth this year is the tomato soup with pimento cheese, bacon, and fried green tomato grilled cheese for $6.50.We LOVED this grilled cheese! It had a great kick to it thanks to the pimento, and all the ingredients blend so well together.
The regular Tomato Soup with Grilled Cheese is one of the booth’s most popular dishes, with the soup in a Warhol-inspired can and a delicious little grilled cheese on the side. Both were delicious, classic, and savory, so if you’re looking for a good comfort meal, this is it.
The Almond Frangipane Cake is returning, and it’s layered with Raspberry Jam and Belgian Chocolate. This cake is available for $4.75, and is very reminiscent of Mondrian’s Composition with Red, Blue, and Yellow. This cake was VERY dense and tasted very strongly of almonds, so if you love almonds, this is for you!
We loved this booth, and will be trying to recreate that pimento grilled cheese at home!
Read our full review of the Pop Eats booth here.
Pastoral Palate
The Red Wine-braised Beef Short Rib with parsnip purée, broccolini, baby tomatoes, and aged balsamic has always been a favorite of ours! This year was no different, and we’d put this dish in the running for this year’s Best of the Fest.
You can also grab the exciting Wild Boar Cassoulet with duck confit, ham hock, and wild boar sausage. We thought this was a really hearty dish — in fact, the plate itself was pretty heavy. There was a ton of flavor to the sausage, but it was a little dry and tough texture-wise.
We saved the best for last — the NEW Black Forest Cake is made with a chocolate mousse with morello cherries and Chantilly cream. Talk about chocolatey! This was so rich but light at the same time. The chocolate shell just melts in your mouth, and the cinnamon on top of the Chantilly cream adds just a hint of something extra to the chocolate flavor.
We love that the cherries were served on the side so you can control how much you’re getting in each bite — which for us, was all of them.
Read our FULL review of the Pastoral Palate booth here!
Vibrante & Vivido
We started off with their Spicy Ajiaco Soup. This soup is filled with tasty ingredients, including guajillo and árbol chili-spiced chicken, potato, avocado, corn, and crème fraîche. This soup is not for the faint of heart! If you like your food spicy, you might want to grab a bowl!
Next we had their Chorizo and Potato Empanada. This house-made dish is served with turmeric aïoli and annatto aïoli, and makes for a pretty hearty plate. Last year we really enjoyed this empanada, and if you did too you’ll be happy to know it’s part of the Wonderful Walk of Colorful Cuisine again this year!
We also had the Passion Fruit Mousse. This is a classic Disney mousse. The flavor is very light, so don’t expect something too overwhelming. We enjoyed the refreshing flavor after our spicy food!
You can also grab a frozen piña colada or passion fruit daiquiri here! Pro tip: mix them together and thank us later!
See the FULL review for Vibrante & Vivido right here!
Tangierine Cafe: Flavors of the Medina
First up is Carrots Three Ways. This is a plant-based dish with berbere-spiced grilled carrots, pickled carrots, and carrot ginger purée. These were surprisingly delicious! We liked them a lot better than last year, and they had a great combination of sweet and savory flavors. The puree tasted like a carrot version of applesauce.
You’ll also find the House-made Crispy Almond Phyllo Pockets with white chocolate pomegranate and milk chocolate orange. These were SUPER flaky!
We didn’t order the chicken or lamb kebabs this time since we had them recently, but in the past, we found that the chicken was well-seasoned, but it was still a bit dry. The garlic aïoli tastes more like mayonnaise. The carrot chickpea salad was light and refreshing, but we felt it needed more seasoning.
Check out our FULL review of Tangierine: Flavors of the Medina here.
Refreshment Outpost
In the past, we’ve recommended the Plant-based Bratwurst to our readers who are looking for a meat-free dish. The returning item has the same ingredients as last year, with spicy turmeric aïoli, coffee barbecue jackfruit, and slaw.
Last year, we weren’t a huge fan of the jackfruit flavor, as it was really sweet, yet pickled, so it kind of missed the mark. On the other hand, the bratwurst and the slaw weren’t bad at all. This year, however, we really enjoyed this plant-based option! The rich coffee flavor of the jackfruit balanced nicely with the sweet slaw, which brightened up the flavors really well.
See our full review of the Plant-Based Bratwurst here.
The Artist’s Table
First up at this booth, we grabbed the Three-Meat Meatloaf with “Peas and Carrots”. This is a NEW item. It’s made with Green pea pudding, carrot ketchup, shaved carrot salad, and snap peas. There was SO much flavor going on in this dish. Our reporter who tried this doesn’t even particularly like meatloaf, but actually enjoyed this!
Next up, it was time for the Duck and Dumplings. This is made with Smoked duck breast, ricotta dumplings, petite vegetables, and duck jus. The duck had a really great smokiness to it that gave it a nice flavor, but we did find it to be a little on the chewy side. We loooooooved the dumpling, though
We tried the new Hummingbird Cake, too! This is made with a Banana cake with pineapple, coconut, pecans, and cream cheese frosting with banana sorbet. This might be a contender for Best of the Fest this year! It’s a little on the sweeter side, but it’s. So. Dang. Good. The pineapple tasted like it had some sort of brown sugar element to it, and the fruit itself tasted fresh.
This was a lighter, fluffy cake as well. The sorbet did melt a little quickly, so keep that in mind before ordering this dessert!
See our FULL review of The Artist’s Table at the festival here!
L’Art de la Cuisine Francaise
We’ll kick things off with a returning favorite — the Crème de Brie en Petit Pain, which is Warm creamy brie in a house-made bread bowl. It has made our Best of the Fest List many times. Can you blame us? Look at that delicious cheesiness! If you love cheese, take our advice and get yourself one of these PRONTO, but note that the serving size is actually pretty small!
Next, we have another returning item, the Croissant à la Truffle Noir d’Hiver, which is a Black winter truffle croissant. This is a savory dish, so don’t go in expecting that traditional sweet croissant flavor. Instead, this one mostly tastes like truffles and warm bread, which can be a winning combination IF you love truffles.
New to the booth this year is the Mille-Feuille de Betteraves aux Herbes et Noix de Cajoux. This is a Plant-based napoleon with beets, cashew-herb filling, pepper-pine nut sauce, and balsamic vinegar caviar. This is a very balsamic-heavy dish, and while our reporter who is not a plant-based eater is a big beets fan, they weren’t absolutely loving this dish.
And finally, the last dish is the returning Moelleux aux Noisettes et Chocolats Valrhona. This is a Molten chocolate and hazelnut cake with pure origin Valrhona chocolates and passion fruit-mango sauce.
When we’ve had this in the past, it has been incredibly rich with a lovely molten center, but this year it actually had a bit of bitterness to it that cut through that sweetness!
Check out our full review of the France Booth here!
Goshiki
First at this booth, we picked up the Rainbow Katsu Sando. This NEW dish features a Pork cutlet sandwich with tangy tonkatsu sauce and cabbage in rainbow sweet bread. The bread on this was almost sweet, but it balanced really well with the crispy pork. The pork was somehow still juicy and was delicious with a little bit of sauce and coleslaw. The textures are what really won this item for us!
The other new menu item is the Ichigo Daifuku. This is made with Mixed berry mochi, sweet azuki bean paste, and mascarpone. We initially really enjoyed the flavors on this, with the fresh berries and the light filling. But after we got further into it, there was too much mochi dough which made it very chewy.
The final item here is the Sushi Donut, which is Donut-shaped sushi featuring salmon, tuna, shrimp, cucumber, and sesame seed over a decorated plate of wasabi aïoli, sriracha aïoli, and eel sauce.
The fish has been VERY FRESH and practically melts in your mouth.
Read our FULL review of the Goshiki booth right here.
Deco Delights
Over at this booth, we have the Dulce Chocolate Mousse with chocolate crémeux and dark chocolate truffle. It’s a very light mousse and very well-made. There were tiny layers that had a texture similar to cake, which really helped to break up the mass of mousse.
Continuing with the chocolate trend, we have the Decadent Valrhona Chocolate with dark chocolate mousse, chocolate brownie, and cassis mousse. We liked this one more than we expected. It was rich, but not too heavy — the ice cream on the side really helped break it up a bit.
Finally, we tried the Orange Mousse with Lemon Cake and Raspberry Meringues. The colors are so bright and vibrant and the presentation is really fun — you’ll want to snap a photo of this one for sure. But when it comes to flavors, it wasn’t our favorite.
The mousse has an interesting texture that reminded us of fake marshmallows.
See our FULL review of Deco Delights here!
Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea
Over in the Canada Pavilion, stop by Joffrey’s for the Magenta Frost, which features dragon fruit and dragon fruit popping boba pearls. At this point you won’t be surprised to know this drink was tooth-achingly sweet. This drink was so sugary it was difficult to enjoy.
At The American Adventure location, you can try the Cerulean Frost, which features blue raspberry and blueberry popping boba pearls. We liked the flavors in this one more than the Amber or Magenta Frosts — you could taste more of the blue raspberry than the lemonade, unlike some of the others.
Annual Passholders can enjoy an extra special treat: at any Joffrey’s location in EPCOT, you can order their Frozen Little Spark. This has the same frozen base as the others, but it’s a cocktail with black raspberry syrup, mango popping boba pearls, and a splash of Grey Goose.
Up next is the Amber Frost. You can find this at the Joffrey’s in World Discovery near Mission: SPACE. This version includes the frozen lemonade base and is paired with blood orange and orange popping boba pearls!
If you are a fan of more tart flavors, head over to the Joffrey’s near Disney Traders for the Jade Frost. This was our favorite version of the drinks! The frozen lemonade is blended with green apple flavoring and green apple popping boba pearls. This drink was a nice combination of sour and sweet! We could definitely taste the green apple flavor.
If you like sweets, this is for you!
